Our Story
En Pointe started with two women and their dreams…
Jennifer Holt and Kelley Slaven met after they both graduated from college with BFAs in Dance from University of the Arts and Temple University respectively and soon became great friends. Their friendship lead them to work with the same world renowned coach, Anna Maria Jones. Both Jennifer and Kelley attribute much of their unique holistic teaching style and studio philosophy to their late coach. Jennifer's passion for Ballet lead her to a dream of someday Directing a Dance Company and ever since Kelley could remember her dream was to open a dance studio.

In 2006 these two dreams merged seamlessly together and En Pointe was born. In December 2006, without a studio space, they produced their first ballet, The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker
featured dancers from the all over tristate area. In 2007 En Pointe had a home on Willits Rd in Northeast Philadelphia now offering dance classes. By 2008, En Pointe was a producing 3 shows a year and had a full roster of dance running Monday-Saturday with Company Rehearsals on Sunday.

As Time went on this 2 woman show grew into the most valuable loving staff anyone could ask for and became a full
dream team of both administrative staff and dance educators. Later a Dance Team and Competition Team were formed. We pride ourselves on being a community for lovers of dance and the performing arts.

In 2020, we developed our signature Shine and Accelerated Programs for a well rounded holistic approach to dance and the whole person. In Fall of 2022 we found a new home in the Del Air Shopping Center on State Rd to serve more students and in 2025 opened a second location in Croydon. We hope to continue our Community Spring Ballet Productions in the future as they have been put on pause since the pandemic.

Jennifer and Kelley are living proof that dreams come true and through En Pointe they want to inspire all of their students to have the confidence to do the same on or off the dance floor.

20 year ago today two young women decided to take a leap of faith and build something beautiful. En Pointe is about YOU, every student, parent, teacher, and staff member that has been a part of En Pointe. All the lives that we’ve touched, the relationships built, the lessons learned and the memories made that will last a lifetime. We sit here today 20 years later and our hearts are full. So Cheers to 20 years. En Pointe is proof that anyone can follow their dreams.
