Our students didn’t just see strawberries — they grew them.

They watered them.
They checked on them.

Our Preschool scholars have officially launched into our Water Study, and today was all about discovering how we travel across water! From powerful cargo ships carrying goods across the world to incredible seaplanes that take off and land right on water—our students are learning that the possibilities are endless when curiosity leads the way.

The best part? They’re not just learning… they’re experiencing.
Tomorrow, we’re taking this study even further as our students set sail in our water tables—testing, imagining, and creating their own journeys at sea. Hands-on learning, real-world connections, and a whole lot of fun 💧

It is our privilege to walk alongside our families during Ramadan and celebrate together at EID.

From intentional classroom lessons to providing dates for breaking fast, every detail was rooted in care, respect, and community. Our spaces were filled with warmth so every family felt seen and celebrated.

We closed the season with our annual Eid celebration, full of joy, laughter, and special EID gifts for every child.

Within the Woodlyn Academy organization, excellence is not an accident. It is cultivated daily and Ms. Ebony is a living example of that commitment.

For 10 years, Ms. Ebony has faithfully served the Woodlyn Academy Organization, beginning as our school chef and quickly distinguishing herself through her work ethic, precision, and unwavering standard of excellence as a leader. Today, she serves as our Food Program Manager and a valued member of our senior leadership team.

Ms. Ebony oversees all locations and every aspect of our food service program. She ensures our cooks are fully trained, our kitchens operate at the highest standards, and every meal is both delicious and nutritionally aligned with each age group we serve.

We understand the science behind nutrition and its impact on brain development, physical growth, and long term health. Because of that, Ms. Ebony makes it her mission to serve fresh fruits and vegetables at every meal. We do not rely on frozen or canned produce. We do not serve processed meats. Every meal is prepared fresh, onsite, daily.

For our youngest infants, she purées fresh fruits and vegetables weekly. Menus are thoughtfully tailored to meet dietary requirements and allergies, ensuring every child is nourished safely and intentionally.

During her tenure, Ms. Ebony also earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education through our partnership with Chestnut Hill College, adding to her culinary degree. Her decision to master both education and nutrition reflects her belief in our mission to close the equality gap by delivering the highest quality experience in every department.

It is not uncommon to see Ms. Ebony step into classrooms, turning food preparation into Montessori aligned learning experiences. From practical life skills to cultural food exploration, she bridges nutrition and education seamlessly.
Each month, she authors our Food Program Newsletter, introducing a Food of the Month to expand our students’ palates and cultural awareness.

This month’s feature: cauliflower. Through exposure, creativity, and consistency, our students learn that healthy food can be exciting, flavorful, and empowering.

✨ From “Something from Nothing” to Something Festive! ✨

Our students explored the classic story Something from Nothing by Phoebe Gilman, where a simple piece of fabric is creatively transformed again and again. Inspired by this, we tied the tale to our Creative Curriculum Clothing Study, showing how garments can take on new life with a little imagination!

Using a plain white sweater as their “blank canvas,” our young designers turned it into a festive holiday sweater full of personality, creativity, and joy. From painting and gluing to sewing and embellishing, they learned how clothing can reflect culture, celebrations, and individuality.

This hands-on activity didn’t just spark creativity—it deepened their understanding of fabrics, design, and the meaningful stories clothes can tell. What holiday magic will they create next? 🎄🧵✨
