💻 Tomorrow is the big day for our 3rd -8th graders! Students will begin Section 1 of their ELA PSSA test in the morning. All tests are taken on the computer this year. Testing this week is on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

🥞Please make sure all students are on time (7:30) so that they have the chance for breakfast and the bathroom before the test. Yes, we did tell them to be there by 7:29 🙃

⏱️The testing window is from 8:00 -10:00. The test is untimed so students may take as long as they need when testing.

🏅Prizes will be raffled off each day there is testing. Students in all grades have a chance of earning prizes for being on time during testing.

🔔 Tomorrow is an early dismissal! Please make sure all students are picked up by 11:09.

💻 All computers and chargers should be returned to school to prepare for testing.

🧑‍💻PSSA testing begins for grades 3-8 on Tuesday. Students were told to be to school by 7:29 next week so they can have breakfast and prepare for testing. ELA testing will happen on April 21, April 22, and April 23. Math testing will be on April 27 & April 28. Science testing for grades 5 & 8 will be on April 29th & April 30th. Please make sure students are at school and on time for testing.

🏫Classes are back in session. Classes begin at 7:30. Penn St. doors will open for breakfast at 7:10.

💯There are half days on Thursday and Friday for report card conferences. Teachers will reach out on Monday to schedule conferences.

📸Wednesday is spring picture day with Barksdale Photos. Students will only get pictures taken if they are paid for. Order forms were sent home before break, but I will post a picture of a form on Monday with pricing and background options.

💃Friday will be our “Spring Fling” dance. K-5 students will participate in the dance during the school day. Middle School students will have their dance from 5:00 - 7:00 on Friday. Students must attend school that day in order to attend the dance at night.

💻 It’s PSSA testing month! Students in grades 3-8 will be taking PSSAs the week of April 20th (ELA) and April 27th (Math and Science). Be on the look out for important updates coming home about testing once we return. Please make sure all Chromebooks and chargers have been returned to school.

With another chance of winter weather on the way in the morning, we are opening for in person learning on time tomorrow. Doors will open at 7:10 for breakfast. Classes begin at 7:30.

📝 Students in grads 3-8 will take a practice PSSA assessment on Thursday. Please make students are in school on time so that they can prepare for the online test they will be taking in May.

💞 Candy grams are on sale! 3 messages for $1 until Friday. Be sure to send your friends a Valentine’s Day treat.

🚨Friday is an early dismissal for staff professional development. Please make sure students are picked up by 11:09. There will be NO Boys and Girls Club after school on Friday.

🚨School is closed on Monday, February 16th andTuesday, February 17th in observance of Presidents’ Day and the Lunar New Year.

💰Penny Wars are continuing! Students have been excited to sabotage other classes each morning. Take a look at the standings to see where classes are on the leaderboards. There will be a winner from each grade band.

🥶 Hope everyone is staying safe and warm in this weather! The School District has officially announced that tomorrow will be another day of virtual learning.

📓Teachers will post updates on their Class Dojos and Google Classrooms with activities and schedules for tomorrow.

❄️We are not sure about the rest of the week yet, but we will update you as soon as possible. Teachers will be reaching out to set up possible virtual conferences in the event we are virtual the rest of the week.

❄️ Due to the weather, we will be having a virtual learning day tomorrow.

📚Materials came home last week to prepare for learning from home. Please check Google Classroom and ClassDojo for updates and schedules from teachers.

⛄️ Bundle up this morning! We are open at regular time today. Doors will open on Penn Street at 7:10 for breakfast. Middle School will enter the gym beginning at 7:10.

🍪 Bake sale is happening during lunch to support student activities.

📻 Friday is a decades (70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s) dress down day for $1 to support student activities.

💯 Teachers will be reaching out to set up report card conferences. Conferences are scheduled for Thursday, January 29th from 12-2 and 4-6 and Friday, January 30th from 12-2.

🧥Please make sure students are dressed for the weather each day. Students will have outdoor recess if the feels like temperature is above 32 degrees. Uniforms should be worn unless it is a dress down day. Shoes should always be closed toe with a back - crocs, slides, and slippers are. a safety concern.

💯 We are almost half way through the year - report card conferences will be coming up on January 29th and 30th. Night conferences will be on January 29th from 4:00 - 6:00.

🎉 🍿 🎬On December 23rd, we will be raffling off three AMC movie baskets for a student in K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 who has perfect attendance for the month of December. Basket includes popcorn, candy, and an AMC movie gift card. 🎉 🍿 🎬

🥨 Snack Cart is back on Wednesday. Snacks will be sold to support student activities.

🚌 Two trips are happening on Thursday. 1st and 2nd grade are going to the Walnut Street Theater and 3rd-6th grade drama club will be attending the Philadelphia Ballet Co. Lunches are not needed - school lunch will be provided before attending the shows.

⛳️ Friday is a sports dress down day for $1. Money will go towards student activities.

🗓️ Friday, December 12th is an 11:09 dismissal. After school programs (Magna Prep/Boys and Girls Club) will be open.

❄️ We have a Winter Spirit Week beginning December 15th. Check out the calendar if you would like to participate. If not following the spirit week theme, students should be in uniform. Students do not need to pay $1 for any of these days.
