“Good morning, I’m Ms. Nowell and I’ll be your teacher today,”
These are the words I told them every day.
Some would finish my sentence and others would laugh,
One would turn on the screen and cut off the lights on my behalf.

Rug time, rotations, and activity time too,
You can’t imagine how much a first grader must do!
Sixty thousand, four hundred eighty minutes in class,
The amount sounds so long, but quickly they pass.

As they move ahead and continue to grow,
I pray they always know,
Wonderfully made, with purpose from the start,
Forever these boys and girls will hold a special place in my heart.
