Hi! My name is Ms.Kiyah and I teach Character Development at Excelsior.

I am your go-to person for the Homecoming Royal Court Elections.

To solidify your child's nomination you guys have to have a campaign table set up by Wednesday, Oct 29th, so that all of the students can meet them and ask questions.

Some students also hang up "vote for me" flyers prior to Wednesday. If you need help creating a flyer or printing them, I am here to help.

All of the students, prek through 5th grade, will vote for the winners after the meet and greet on Wednesday.

Attached are a few table set up ideas.

Will you and your child be participating?

Pick A Person For The "Blacks In Wax Museum!" Open to all students, Pre K- 5th Grade!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce a special event at Excelsior School of Philadelphia in honor of Black History Month: the "Blacks in Wax Museum," taking place on Thursday, February 20th. This unique event offers our students a hands-on opportunity to learn and present about influential Black figures in history. All participating student's must pick an icon from history, dress up as them on the 20th, and present a few facts about the person's impact during our assembly. The student with the best costume and speech will win $100!

Event Details:

Date: Thursday, February 20th
Location: Excelsior School of Philadelphia
How It Works:
Students are encouraged to participate by dressing up as a notable Black influencer from history and memorizing one or two sentences about their achievements and impact.
Example presentation: "I am Martin Luther King, a civil rights leader known for peaceful movements like the Montgomery Bus Boycott, March on Washington, and The March on Selma."
Sign-Up Process:

We have created a diverse list of historical figures for students to choose from. To view the list and help your child select an influencer, sign up here.
If you would like your child to represent someone who is not listed feel free to email your request to me, Ms.Kiyah at [email protected]
This event is not only a celebration of Black History Month but also a platform for our students to engage with history in a creative and memorable way. We encourage all students to participate and look forward to seeing their presentations.
Please reply to this email or contact the school office if you have any questions or need assistance with the sign-up process.

Thank you for your support and participation in making this event a success!
