Join Penn State Extension & the Philly ARC on 10/18 for our 3rd soil testing workshop, Soils 103: Environmental Contaminants.
This foundational workshop is the last in our 3-part series, and is intended for all experience levels. All materials will be provided.
*Please be aware that the workshop will cover assessing, screening and testing, and practical information for managing soil to minimize risks, but we will not discuss phytoremediation or bioremediation, as they are not realistically feasible or effective strategies for most growers.*

This event is free and open to the public, but spaces are limited and RSVP is required. All ages and experience levels welcome! We would be happy to provide an interpreter for you if needed - please email [email protected] at least 2 weeks before the event.

This Sunday, August 30th, from 2-5 PM, The Agriculture Resource Center will host Penn State Extension soil experts as they lead our second public workshop on soil testing: Soil 102: Interpreting Test Results and Amending Your Soil!

Are you ready to be a neighborhood hero? Check your nearest storm drains! Whether it's trash and debris, a runaway silt sock, or an invasive Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima), blocked storm drains are a hazard. Clear debris and trash from your nearest storm drains between rain events to reduce localized flooding and pollutants entering waterways.

Some of the most frequent types of trash we find in waterways are single-use disposable beverage cups and plastic beverage bottles. Thinking ahead and planning to bring your own container or mug keeps our streets, storm drains, and waterways cleaner!

We are honored to share that the Penn State University Extension Master Watershed Steward Program received the Water Resources Association of the Delaware River Basin’s Special Recognition Award for “outstanding work conserving and enhancing waterways and green spaces through community education and outreach to advance ecological resilience in the Delaware River Basin.”
Volunteers like Pat and Dave, shown here at the PHS Flower Show, are so key this mission and we’re grateful for the work that Stewards do across Pennsylvania.
