I used to always use Fitbit for step counting and easily hit 10k days.

Until I realized Fitbit counts „steps” even when you sit..
as long as you „talk with your hands a lot”.. if you know what I mean.. and if you okay ping pong, it counts like crazy..

Here is my Fitbit v. a simple pedometer at the end of the day.

Which one is right?

This is confusing ah…

Never thought the difference would be this huge!

Kids wanted to write ✍️ a letter to 🎅 and started with a bullet list of things THEY WANT.

We had to pause, do a little rewind ⏪ and learn to FIRST thank Santa for everything he brought last year before asking for new stuff.

Simple lessons go a long way if repeated over and over..
(I hope ☺️)

Re- reading this and wanted to share a cool research about correlation between # of hours of discretionary time/day AND happiness.

If you have less than 2 hours a day to spend on whatever you want to do (sports, family time, date with a friend, walk, reading a book) you may be depressed, stressed, and emotionally exhausted.

On the other hand, if you have more than 5 hours, you may be feeling unhappy due to lack of purpose and boredom.

So what’s the sweet spot?

Anything between 2 and 5 hours a day 💜

Are you hitting it??

If so, now it’s just up to you to make sure you spend them doing something that brings you joy over just mindlessly killing time 😊

Why isn’t EVERYONE talking about this show?

If you’re into healthy living, it’s a MUST watch. Especially in the US when we seem to be doing everything backwards..

Fascinating stories about the several blue zones where living to 100 is a norm.
(Or at least was, until the fast food joints took over)

Do yourself a favor and watch this!

One of the most important and beautiful things humans can do is to simply connect with others 💕

I’ve always had a major soft spot for seniors 🥹(even as a little girl I had three older ladies in the neighborhood I’d visit after school just to chat!), so few months ago I emailed 3 nursing homes in my area asking its directors if they know of any older residents who may feel lonely and could benefit from a little visit here and there.

Because I knew I would.

I guess I was missing my grandma who died 5 years ago and was hoping to find someone to remind me of her..?

One person responded to my email saying that she knows more than a few residents who’d love a visitor and she was happy to have me volunteer for that role!

That’s when I met G.

I instantly connected with her.

She’s witty, hilarious and sweet.

And when I found out she was born in 1923 (the same year as my grandmother!!) and she will be turning 100!!!! on October 7th, I immediately marked my calendar and crossed my fingers she’ll still be around for this huge milestone.

This morning, between the soccer practice and team pictures, I dragged my entire family, few balloons and a little chocolate cake to celebrate with G.

She teared up a little bit.
And so did I…

Even though we only had few minutes to spend with her today, it made me super happy to be able to be there.

And I hope my kids will always remember this little sweet old lady we shared a chocolate cake with on her 100th birthday 🥳

Happy Birthday, G!!!

(I told her “May you live 120 years”
to which she responded “Are you crazy?” 😂 🥰)

I popped bunch of confetti balloons 🎈inside my house at my daughter’s sixth birthday party.

It took me an hour to clean up that one room (and five additional hours to clean up the rest of the house after the party.. )

but the level of joy, excitement and pure happiness this silly act caused for 11 little girls was worth EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of that clean up.

Especially that all we usually tell them is
“don’t make a mess” or “stop screaming”.

So once a year, I’m 💯 okay with all the mess and screaming the little six year old girls have in them. Bring it on!!

But only once a year 😉

Back to “put your shoes in place right now” kinda mode 😉

I love being sneaky and drop off a little gift or some balloons for my good friends on their birthdays.
Love the surprise element where they wonder who could it be… 😊 😃

But.. technology managed to kinda ruin the fun for me and for them.. 😞

Maybe next time I’ll wear balaclava. Nah, that would really be weird. 😂

Is it true that extroverts get energized when being with people while introverts’ energy gets depleted by others? 🤔

Most people hate house chores.

So we see them as a “necessary evil”.
Something that definitely doesn’t make us happy.

But what if there was a different way to look at them?

Here is something we can learn from (my) children.

One of their jobs is to unpack the groceries.

They used to procrastinate and try to get out from doing it but now they look forward to it!!

WHY?

because
they turned it into a GAME.

One person is a cashier and another one is a shopper.

The shopper asks for “a dozen of eggs, yogurt and a lettuce” gets it, “pays with the credit card”, and puts it in the fridge.

Then they switch so the cashier is a shopper and the shopper is a cashier.

They’re having a blast 💥 and the groceries are unpacked.

I try to fold laundry while listening to a good audiobook and drive while again, listening to a good audiobook but that’s as far as I’ve gone with gamifying/ having fun while doing something boring but now I’M TOTALLY INSPIRED and will try turning more things I have to do into things I like to do 🤩

“You used to give me a ride on a bike when I was a little kid!” - said a sister to her 10 years older brother once.

“Jump on!”- said the brother.

If you knew someone who is 100 years old, what questions would you ask them?
