Our inaugural PhD in Health Science students recently traveled to Dublin, Ireland, for an international doctoral intensive at University College Dublin (UCD) SMARTLab as part of their studies for a Design Thinking and Inclusive Design in Health Science Research course.

Our students learned alongside PhD students from UCD through seminars, collaborative workshops, and dissertation development sessions exploring design thinking, community-based research, qualitative methodology, and interdisciplinary approaches to solving complex health challenges.

"They weren't simply learning from experts. They were presenting their own ideas, challenging assumptions, learning from one another, and building relationships with colleagues from around the world. That kind of reciprocal learning is exactly what we hope to foster through a globally connected model of doctoral education." said Dr. Kirby Wycoff, Director of the PhD in Health Science Program.

Thank you to Professor Lizbeth Goodman and our colleagues at UCD SMARTLab for an incredible week of learning, collaboration, and friendship.
