5 Nutritious Lunch Ideas for Preschoolers

With all the things teachers and child care providers have to do throughout the week, meal planning should be the least of your worries.

Lunch Idea #1
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, orange slices, peanut butter crackers and cucumber slices. Feel free to substitute peanut butter with any other butters of your choice such as almond or sunflower seed butter. This meal is perfect for preschoolers who don’t have access to a microwave or toaster oven. This meal can be kept in the refrigerator or a freezer bag until lunch time.

Lunch Idea #2
Ham and cheese wrap, crackers of your choice, applesauce and apple slices. Again, this meal can be tuned to your preschooler’s preferences. For example, if your student would enjoy lettuce in their wrap, add it. If you’re student would enjoy a different sliced fruit, substitute it for that.

Lunch Idea #3
Pita bread, hummus of your choice, apple slices, pretzels and carrots.

Lunch Idea #4
Bagel of your choice with cream cheese, apple slices, goldfish crackers, melon and add in a treat of your choice.

Lunch Idea #5
Sliced boiled egg, fruit strips, waffles of your choice, and a fruit mix of your choice (blueberries and melon; apple slices and strawberries, or banana slices and strawberries).

We hope these five tasty and simple lunch ideas make lunch time at your preschool, center or family child care more organized and structured.

What’s your favorite dessert? Ours of course is chocolate chip cookies— preferably straight out of the oven 😋🍪

Fall is near! These toddler books are excellent read-alongs for the season.

Little Acorn follows the adventures of a little acorn as he grows and matures into a huge oak tree! This is a great start to introducing science and life cycles to your toddler.

Hello, Fall is a beautifully-illustrated book, told from the perspective of a little girl. She remembers all of the little changes happening around her and her dad as fall approaches. It's a great book to practice retelling strategies.

To read along with your toddler, try checking your local library first. If you can't find these books there, try Amazon, Target or Barnes & Noble.

Happy fall reading!

Picture books matter too! When you look at picture books with your child, you can engage them in a conversation about what they think might be happening. This way, you're doing two things at once: igniting their imagination and developing their print awareness skills.

At CFCC, literacy matters. We use a mixture of Fundations and other phonics-building activities to help your child's speech and reading fluency. Our master teacher guarantees an improvement in your child's ability to decipher and pronounce words in no time!

Fun Fact Friday. Did you know that your baby is born with the habits of a scientist? Because of this, make sure you are allowing your baby time to explore their surroundings. After all, learning is best done through independent play.
