August is Catfish Month and we are celebrating and recognizing the farmers raising one of Alabama's favorite foods!

From ponds to plates, catfish production is an important part of Alabama agriculture. Behind the scenes, Alabama Extension works alongside catfish producers to help them navigate the challenges of raising a healthy, productive crop.

Extension specialists and agents provide research-based information and assistance on topics such as pond and water quality management, fish health, production practices, feeding, disease prevention, and more. We’re proud to recognize Alabama’s catfish producers, and the Extension professionals working alongside them to keep Alabama aquaculture moving forward.
