🚨We have joined the American Red Cross to open a shelter for people affected by flooding in Hidalgo County at PSJA North Early College High School (500 E Nolana Loop in Pharr). Please check in with a Red Cross volunteer when you arrive.

PSJA ISD Important Announcement:

PSJA ISD will continue to follow current mask-wearing guidelines through June 4, 2021.

After June 4, no student, teacher, parent, staff member, or visitor will be required to wear a mask while on campus. However, amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, PSJA ISD continues to recommend and encourage the use of masks for anyone entering a PSJA facility.

Please keep in mind, not all our students and staff have been vaccinated, and the health and safety of our students and staff continue to be our number one priority.

We will wait for further clarification from the Texas Education Agency and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) regarding new mask guidelines for the 2021-2022 school year.

Currently, CDC has recommended the use of masks and social distancing in schools for the remainder of the school year.

Yesterday the Mighty Wolverines provided a walk-thru with the Texas Na'tl Guard, City of Alamo, and Hidalgo Co. for a Johnson and Johnson vaccine clinic this Saturday. We are excited to collaborate and do all we can to provide support to the Tri-City Family in the 1,000 dose effort. This event will take PSJA to providing over 23,000 doses in three months! Amazing Teamwork From the Mighty Business Office
Thank you to Mrs. Emily Garza, our Purchasing Director, for leading our LBJ Phase II Construction Project Walk Through. She has worked diligently through the pandemic, acquiring $1.3 million dollars of PPE for our PSJA Team to include our Air Purification System, desk shields, facilities alterations, and vaccine refrigerators. This project is scheduled to break ground in three months and be completed in one year. PSJA ISD

Our Iron Chariots have arrived. THANK YOU to our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Jorge Arredondo, and our Board of Trustees for investing in our grounds department. Each of the 9 teams is gaining a mower along with capturing 20+ w**d eaters! Aye Vamos! PSJA ISD

Congratulations to Severo Castillo for receiving the Spirit of PSJA award for Positive Engagement. Mr. Castillo, Lead HVAC Technician, exemplifies the Positive Engagement Category of the Spirit of PSJA because of his integrity, care, and amazing heartfelt 22+ years of service he provides to students and staff. As we became innovative in the battle against this virus, Mr. Castillo’s determination and strategic vision were vital in the establishment of the Facility Alteration Team. Understanding how creative our efforts had to become, he singlehandedly developed an Action Plan for ensuring our staff, and students are safe through air and water quality.

His plan to enable the District to inherit the iWave Air Purification System which kills the COVID-19 Virus within 30 seconds of contact was one of the most impactful, strategic, and safest implementations. This valiant effort to place these systems across the district over a few weeks’ time was accomplished through his integrity, leadership, and selfless service to the Spirit of PSJA. He was instrumental in gaining the best available prices for not only this system, but enhancing the frequency of our air filter exchanges, and the new water dispensers.

Providing such humble care to the basic needs of life in the air we breathe and water we drink at PSJA ISD, defines the character of Mr. Castillo who takes his service to another level daily. His actions led to the installation of the 1,000 plus Air Purification systems and ignited the installation of over 125 new water systems, sealing a level of peace of mind for our teams, students and parents.

For his distinguished service and high standards of honesty, he was recommended for the Positive Engagement Spirit of PSJA Award. He exemplifies the Spirit of PSJA with his service, and he is the epitome of excellence. PSJA ISD

Congratulations to Candelario Cruz for receiving the Spirit of PSJA award for Positive Engagement. Mr. Cruz, a Security Officer with PSJA ISD, exemplifies the Positive Engagement Category of the Spirit of PSJA because of his integrity, care, and amazing heartfelt service he provides to students and staff. As we became innovative in the battle against this virus, Mr. Cruz’s determination and strategic vision was vital in the establishment of the District’s Safety Compliance Task Force. Understanding how service and approachability blend during a campus compliance inspection, his positive energy, ability to connect, and integrity has been noted by many of our Campus Administrators. He singlehandedly developed a logistics chain throughout the Task Force to ensure that the team had in their possession vital components such as signage, desk partitions, and PPE to help campuses become ‘compliant’ in real-time vs having to standby. He is always prepared to work longer hours to ensure compliance inspections at our band practices, football games, and other important events in the evening. His inspections to date are well over 140 per month, ensuring the safety, security, and wellness of the Spirit of PSJA. His services save lives and streamline communication of new standards from the CDC, Health Services, and other Health Authorities.

For his distinguished service and high standards of honesty, he was recommended for the Positive Engagement Spirit of PSJA Award. He exemplifies the Spirit of PSJA with his service ranging over 21 years, and he is the epitome of excellence. PSJA ISD PSJA Security Department
