Tomorrow is the BIG DAY, Knights!

We are SO excited to welcome 1,000+ students through the doors of Kelly Lane tomorrow morning!

We also know tonight comes with ALL the feelings. Some of our students are excited. Some are nervous. Some can’t wait to see their friends. Some are worried about finding their classes, knowing where to sit at lunch, or simply figuring out where they belong in a building full of 1,000+ people.

Parents, we know you may be feeling some of those things, too.

Here’s what we want you to know tonight: We’ve got them!

Will tomorrow be perfectly smooth? Probably not. There are a LOT of kids, schedules, hallways, lunches, buses, and moving pieces to navigate. But there will also be a whole lot of adults standing in hallways, greeting kids, answering questions, pointing them in the right direction, and making sure no one has to figure it out alone.

Our goal tomorrow is simple: every student gets where they need to go, feels cared for along the way, and goes home knowing they belong at Kelly Lane Middle School.

We are Knights. We strive to live with VALOR. And we are SO ready for you!

We're excited to welcome our Knights for Meet the Teacher on Monday! Students will receive their class schedules and have the opportunity to meet their teachers and become familiar with the campus.

📅 Date: Monday, August 10th
🕒 Time: 5:00-7:00 PM (come and go)

Schedule Pickup Locations:
📍 6th Grade - Cafeteria
📍 7th Grade - Back Gym
📍 8th Grade - Main Gym (Bleacher Side)

Students will pick up their schedules by grade level and alphabetically by last name. Directional signage and staff members will be available throughout the building to help families find the correct location.

After receiving their schedules, students and families are invited to walk the campus, locate classrooms, and meet teachers before the first day of school.

The 2026 KLMS Summer Band Camp put on a great performance on Thursday! “The Shortest Concert of the Year” 🎶 Thanks to the students and band directors who used the last bit of their summer to come make music with us.

Our 26-27 KLMS Athletic Parent Meeting will be happening this Friday, Aug. 7 from 5:30-7:00pm in the KLMS Cafeteria. Come to get helpful information for your 7th/8th grade athletes for this school year from our athletics coordinators/coaches.

Knight Pride was in FULL swing today now that our whole staff is back! This KLMS crew is so excited to get year 26-27 started as we get ready to welcome our students back on Aug. 12 🫶

A special shout out to our KLMS cheerleaders who helped kick us off this morning with their award winning routine and helped teachers get set up in their classrooms!

Kelly Lane Middle School Families,

As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share an important update regarding backpacks, lockers, and student devices.

🎒Student Lockers:
Beginning this school year, KLMS will no longer issue hallway lockers to students. As a result, students will be allowed to carry a backpack/bag with them throughout the school day.

We know this will be a change for many of our returning students and staff, but we believe it will make passing periods smoother by reducing trips to lockers and helping students arrive to class on time with everything they need.

To help keep classrooms organized and ensure adequate space for everyone, we ask that students bring one standard-sized backpack or smaller bag (such as a zip binder or sling bag). Students should not carry multiple bags throughout the day.

The good news is that backpacks should remain relatively light, as Chromebooks and classroom textbooks will stay in classrooms.
Students enrolled in PE, Athletics, or Band will still be assigned lockers specific to those programs. Students in Dance or other electives that require additional materials should keep those items in their backpack.

📱 Cell Phones & Personal Devices
This change also impacts where students will store their personal devices. In accordance with Texas House Bill 1481, students may not use personal communication devices during the school day while on school property.

Beginning this year, students should keep their phones and other personal devices powered off and stored inside their backpack or bag throughout the school day. Devices should not be visible and may not be carried in pockets or on a student's person.

We appreciate your partnership as we implement these changes. Our goal is to create a safe, organized, and efficient learning environment where students can focus on what matters most—learning.
