We are so excited to Welcome Andrew Long to the Hendrickson Hawk Band Family!

Andrew Long is originally from Frisco, Texas, where he attended Wakeland High School and graduated from the University of North Texas, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a concentration in tuba.

During his time at UNT, Mr. Long was a member of the concert bands, tuba/euphonium ensembles, and the UNT Green Brigade Marching Band, where he served as a tuba section leader. While at UNT, Mr. Long had the privilege of working with some phenomenal North Texas high school bands, including Fossil Ridge, Wakeland, Lone Star, and Braswell. Professionally, Mr. Long is affiliated with the Texas Music Educators Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity.

Mr. Long spent his summers marching drum corps with the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Phantom Regiment, where he aged out in 2024, serving as tuba section leader. He is now in his second year serving on the brass staff at the Blue Knights.

Mr. Long is entering his first year of teaching and is incredibly excited to join the staff at Hendrickson High School!

In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, and spending time with his two cats, Indie and Sammie. Mr. Long is forever grateful to his wonderful mentors, teachers, friends, and family who have helped him throughout his journey to where he is today!

Hendrickson High School is seeking an energetic, student centered Assistant Band Director to join our team.

We’re looking for a strong teacher and collaborator to contribute to a supportive staff and well established program in Pflugerville ISD. A brass specialist with a visual background is ideal, but above all we want an outstanding educator who’s invested in student growth.

Come be part of a supportive community and a program that’s proud of its students and each other.

Go James! 🎉

🎵Congratulations to our high school musicians who represented Pflugerville ISD at the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (TSSEC) over Memorial Day weekend! Students earned the opportunity to perform at the state level by receiving the highest rating at the regional competition earlier this year. Pflugerville ISD students brought home 39 Division I ratings, the highest rubric score awarded by the judges. 🎉

🏅 In addition, two students received the prestigious Outstanding Performer designation, one of the highest individual honors a Texas high school musician can achieve. Of the approximately 100,000 students statewide who participate in UIL solo contests at the regional level, only those who advance to state are eligible for Outstanding Performer recognition, and judges select just the top 1–3% of soloists for this distinction. Congratulations to James Rees from Hendrickson High School and Jared Garcia from Connally High School on this remarkable achievement! We are incredibly proud of all of our students who represented PfISD with excellence. ✨
