VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is the most
important way that you can support our Windermere family. Please consider donating some of your time to help out at events, at school, or in the classroom. We have a variety of ways that you can help, and opportunities that could fit any schedule. We also sponsor tours of the school work areas for those that are interested. Contact us anytime at [email protected], or contact the volunteer coordinator directly. T-Shirts
Windermere PTO has moved to an online platform for school apparel and will only sale the remaining shirts we have on hand through our Square Space page as sizes are limited. Please see our schools page at https://1stplace.sale/91818 to purchase your new WES spirit wear or maybe a new hat or sweater! Windermere PTO will receive a small commission off each purchase that will help support the PTOs efforts during the year. PTO FAQs
Do I have to pay dues to belong to the PTO? No! Every Windermere parent/guardian is automatically a member of our PTO. Is the PTO just for stay-at-home moms? The PTO is for everyone! Our volunteers are mothers, fathers, and those who fill those roles. We have a wide range of volunteers who stay-at-home; work part-time to full-time; have little ones at home, and more. Does the PTO have all the help they need? We always need your help no matter how big or how small! YOU make the difference! The PTO welcomes everyone, and continues to need volunteers for various events, fundraisers, and committees year-round. We need you! Do PTO volunteers need to be at school during the day? Much of the PTO work can be done from home on your own schedule, or at events at night, or weekends. Yes, there is volunteering during the school day if you are able to do so. But no one does it all, so choose what works best for you. Can I volunteer even if I have donโt have any experience? While the PTO is fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who return, we also welcome new ones every year. You do not need to have any experience to volunteer!! The PTO acts as a team, and supports and helps all of our volunteers accomplish their goals. Why is PTO important? The PTO supports the educational goals of the school, and assists with attaining those goals through parent and community volunteerism. We want to help provide our students with a first-class learning environment, and the PTO helps make this possible by supporting our teachers, staff, students, and parents (guardians). Volunteering for the PTO not only helps your student succeed, but all of Windermere! What if I don't have any training? Never fear! The PTO and / or the office staff will be glad to show you around. What are some of the jobs that volunteers can do? Some of the volunteer jobs may include: office work - copying, distributing, hanging posters; weekly science lab volunteer to straighten and keep track of needed science materials; classroom volunteer - read to classes, have students read to you or with you; workroom volunteer - copy, laminate, build paper copies of books, die cuts, etc.; library volunteer - shelf library books, assist librarian with various projects including book fairs; literacy closet - keep literacy closet organized; and much, much more!

During the PfISD Board Meeting on May 14, the Board of Trustees voted to approve the closure of Windermere Elementary. This decision came as a surprise to many families and staff members, especially following the workshop the week prior, which left many with hope that WES would be removed from consideration, at least temporarily.
As the PTO, our mission has always been to support the students, staff, and families of Windermere Elementary, and that commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to stand beside our school community every step of the way. In the coming year, we are dedicated to making it a meaningful, memorable, and positive year for our students and staff while celebrating everything that makes WES so special.
For those who would like to stay informed or continue advocating for Windermere, we encourage you to join the Save Windermere Elementary School page for updates, resources, and opportunities to stay involved. ๐๐๐ฆ
