The Voter Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) asks for an additional 4 pennies to be added to the M&O tax rate.

If the VATRE is not approved by voters, with the M&O tax decrease of 6 cents due to HB3 compression, and the Board decreasing the I&S rate by 10 cents, homeowners will see a 16 cent decrease on their overall tax rate in this fiscal year.

If passed, homeowners will still see a 12 cent decrease on their overall tax rate in this fiscal year, the lowest tax rate in 30 years; AND this will result in an additional $6.9 Million for PfISD to be spent on daily operations like teacher salaries, utilities, and instructional materials.

When I began this journey, I did not begin alone. I had my family, friends and a firm dependence on God.
On Thursday, May 20 at 6:00pm I will be sworn in to the School Board of Trustees and I am ready to get to work with a full understanding that true leaders serve.

A week later, Aguirre declared winner of tight Pflugerville school board race A week after the May 1 election, David Aguirre wins the Place 1 seat on the Pflugerville school board.

We are so grateful for the support we received throughout the election process of the Pflugerville ISD school board. I received word last night that we won the election by 3 votes. The fact that this race was so close speaks to the fact that my competitor was indeed a strong candidate as well. I’d like to congratulate Marc Garcia on a race well run, and I’m hopeful we will have the opportunity to work together in the school system some day.

For all my family, friends, neighbors and supporters — I’d like to express how grateful I am for you all. Whether it was block walking, texting, calling or reaching out to our community members, I am hopeful you all know how thankful I am for your efforts in supporting me as a candidate and having meaningful conversations with those who got out, voted, and showed up.
I’d like to express special thanks to Anthony Nguyen and Julia Ruiz. Our efforts could not have been this successful without you by our side. Thank you to my family and my grandchildren, who have been my most enthusiastic cheerleaders. To my beautiful wife Janie— I could not have done this without you. Thank you. You have been my biggest supporter and help in this process from day one.

I am incredibly excited to begin contributing to Pflugerville ISD. I look forward to working hard for the community and making sure the voice of our teachers, administrators and parents are heard. I look forward to working with the board members
on enhancing and creating conditions for students’ success.

This year has been an unprecedented, but our teachers stepped up to the challenge! They have gone beyond the call of duty, sacrificing their personal and family time to ensure the students’ success. They have used their creativity and adapted new methods of instruction. Our teachers were flexible as they adjusted the classroom schedules. They did that and so much more!

Thank you to all Pflugerville ISD teachers!! We appreciate your dedication and ALL your efforts.

A message from David Aguirre, aka Mr. A.

At the present, we, as parents, taxpayers, citizens, and business owners are in need of people who understand that real life adjustments and transitions are happening to parents, students and educators (teachers), that supersede a "one-way, only-way" method of educational guidance. We need a Trustee, whom we can trust to multi-focus, multi-task and maintain fundamentally and make economically sound decisions.

I will represent ALL student population from more than one perspective; my diverse experiences will bring in a REAL LIFE perspective to decision-making processes and procedures – (I have been there) - and successfully model a path of significant success! My accomplishments are above reproach of any formality in executive education - educating our students, building relationships and policy building takes the CHARACTER, COMMITMENT and DEDICATION to successfully reach the goal of Education Momentum and Sustainability.

As a very successful business LEADER and retired executive, I have EXPERIENCE navigating resources and finances over decades of economic ups and downs leading me to top LEADERSHIP positions of development.

I am very FAMILY ORIENTED and have invested in our school district for multiple generations, therefore, my focus is guided toward the OVERALL GOALS not short term, quick fixes. I’ve supported my children through one era of PfISD education and now my grandchildren, with whom I share close bonds, support and have guided through this "pandemic-learning" crisis.

I am a long-time resident and have FAMILIARITY with areas of the city, communities and citizens, across DEMOGRAPHICS and know how certain entities can ALIGN towards REBUILDING, STRENGTHENING and EXPANDING the District's interest with just considerations for the homeowner’s tax base. I am a homeowner taxpayer.
