At Home: I don’t want to talk about school.”

Can both be true?

Absolutely.

The child a teacher sees during the school day and the child a family sees afterward can sometimes tell very different stories.

Engagement or Evidence of Thinking?

They’re explaining their thinking. Not just answering questions.
They’re revising their thinking. Because new ideas matter.
They’re connecting ideas. Not just completing tasks.
They’re staying with the challenge. Even when it’s difficult.
They’re still thinking tomorrow. The lesson didn’t end with the bell.
