Our all-school assembly this morning centered on our annual Carnation Ceremony. Our seniors who will be the LTA Class of 2027 presented carnations to our kindergarteners (Class of 2039).

This event marks an important milestone for both classes. Headmaster Siegel charged the seniors to lead by exemplifying the LTA virtues throughout the year. We were so happy to see so many parents today.

Our upper school is in full swing. Our teachers are excited to meet parents tomorrow night at our upper school back-to-school night.

This event provides the opportunity for parents to follow their son’s or daughter’s schedule. The event will start promptly at 5 p.m. in the gym with a few presentations before parents follow an abbreviated schedule. We look forward to seeing all upper school parents on Tuesday

After seven days of intentional preparation, we welcomed students and families from kindergarten last night and first through sixth grades tonight.

Our lower school faculty brings a lot of experience and a high level of commitment to our mission. The level of excitement for the new school year was exhilarating. We will welcome all new students and returning upper school students tomorrow (see the Liberty Lantern for details).

We welcomed our school community yesterday with our first annual back-to-school BBQ. Over 400 guests enjoyed a joyful gathering well-planned by our PET and student life and operations.

Thank you to all who came. We cannot wait to welcome all students back next week.

During orientation, LTA teachers and staff competed in a lunchtime trivia competition in which grade levels and different disciplines squared off to show their knowledge.

Categories included "Liberty Tree Facts", "American History", "Great Books for Young and Old", "Hallway Art", and "Are you smarter than an LTA student?". The winning team, Mrs. Roger’s Neighborhood (4th grade through 6th grade), came out victorious, correctly identify all 5 presidents to celebrate centennial and semi-centennial anniversaries of the 4th of July in office.

Please welcome Mr. Jim Jenista, our new Upper School Math teacher (Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, and Elementary Statistics). Last year he taught Origins of World Civilizations (a 6th grade History course).

Mr. Jenista is fulfilling a lifelong dream of teaching high school Math, especially in LTA's Hillsdale K-12 environment!

He is currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird.
He had a busy summer attending an ICLE CEFC Workshop, then the ICLE National Conference, and finally a Land Rover National Rally.
