The cadets of Girl Scout Troop 45234 who meet at Woodmen Hills Elementary School have been working toward their Silver Award. The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout cadet in grades 6th-8th can earn. It requires completing a single "Take Action" project with a suggested minimum time investment of 50 hours per scout. The cadets designed, built, and installed a new bench for our playground! They also designed a music garden from start to finish and wrapped up the installation on Saturday. We are so impressed with their desire to give back to our Tornadoes in a way that allows students to engage in something during recess. This has certainly brought smiles at recess time today!

At WHES, we take great pride in celebrating a very strong and positive culture balanced with high academic performance and growth. It is rare to have both, and to maintain both over a period of time, but we have done just that. We are incredibly proud of our dedicated teachers, engaged students, supportive families, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement. One thing is for sure - sustainable school improvement does not come from a single program or initiative; it comes from building strong relationships, maintaining a clear instructional focus, and creating a school environment where every staff member is empowered to do their best work and every student is given every opportunity they need to grow and achieve at high levels. Every kid deserves to go to a school where they are loved, safe, and with staff who genuinely enjoy their work and do whatever it takes for our kids. And with that, learning happens.

We are wrapping up our celebration of our that earned 74+ points on the ColoradoColorado Department of Education's School Performance Framework (SPF).

The Tornadoes of Woodmen Hills Elementary School roared into distinction with a 74 SPF. This recognition reflects the hard work of students, the dedication of staff, and the support of families who make the Woodmen Hills community so strong.

We had 46 Kindergarteners master all of their sight word lists and earn lunch with Mrs. Stegman! Way to go, Tornadoes!

Our 2nd graders had such a great opportunity to have The Gabriel Foundation come to our school to present an engaging discussion on parrots and the important work their rescue does. The kids loved it, but I think the adults loved it even more! It was a great way to incorporate fun and learning for our last week of school!
