Dear Central Families,

I hope you are enjoying the final days of summer! I wanted to share a few important updates as we get ready for the new school year.

Class Lists: Class lists have been sent to your email. We have received reports that some of these emails are going to spam or junk folders. If you have not seen your child’s class assignment, please be sure to check your spam or junk mail folder.

Central Construction Update: As Central is still under construction, Mrs. Braddock and I are currently working out of Sheridan Elementary. We are hopeful that we will be able to return to Central on August 31. We are so excited to see the completed construction and look forward to welcoming everyone back to our school!

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prepare for the upcoming school year. We can’t wait to see our Central students and families soon!

Following the Celebration of life at Stone Funeral Home we will be having a luncheon at Petoskey Middle School. Please join us for lunch to remember Illidynn and share stories.

Dear Family and Friends,

We invite you to join us as we gather to celebrate the life of our beloved Illidynn Winowiecki. Together, we will honor Illidynn's memory, share stories, and find comfort in the love and support of family and friends.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 21 at:
Stone Funeral Home
2098 E. Mitchell Rd.
Petoskey, MI 49770

Schedule:
Visitation: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Celebration of Life Service: 2:00 p.m.

Following the service, please join us for a luncheon in the Petoskey Middle School cafeteria, where we can continue sharing memories and supporting one another.

Please come as yourself. There is no expectation of traditional funeral attire. Instead, we invite you to wear something that reflects Illidynn's spirit. If you have a favorite purple outfit, a graphic T-shirt (especially one featuring video games, cartoons, or other fandoms Illidynn would have loved), we'd be delighted to see it. If your most comfortable way to honor Illidynn is in a cozy onesie or pajamas that fit that fun, colorful vibe, please feel welcome to wear those too.

Your presence would mean so much as we remember and celebrate Illidynn's life. We look forward to gathering together to honor the joy, laughter, love, and memories Illidynn brought into our lives.

We need your help to keep our garden flourishing over the summer! Please select a week or more to water and w**d in the garden. Please also harvest and feel free to take your harvested vegetables for yourself and to share with friends and neighbors. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Please check on the garden two to three times throughout the week. Hopefully two families will adopt the week each week so that it is fun and less work for everyone. Feel free to coordinate times. Dear Central Elementary Families,

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Grandma Linda (Linda Lorusso), a cherished member of our school community.

Grandma Linda has been a dedicated volunteer at Central for many years through AmeriCorps Seniors. She worked closely with students in small groups, supporting reading and math, and built meaningful connections with so many children along the way. While she primarily worked with our Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grade students this year, her impact has reached countless students over the years.

She will be greatly missed by students, staff, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

We encourage you to share this information with your children at home in a way that feels appropriate for your family. Tomorrow, Mrs. Greene and Auggie will be available at school to provide support to any students who may need someone to talk to during this time.

Parent Input Forms for 2026-2027 - Due by May 4th
As the final weeks of our school year are rapidly approaching, we will be diligently working on class placements for the 2025-2026 school year. We would like to provide the opportunity for you to share your thoughts for next year's class placements. Please know that we thoroughly consider many factors in determining the best classroom placement of each student in order to best accommodate and support individual student and family needs. We take a great deal of pride in considering and discussing what will provide for a positive experience for our students, knowing their academic needs, personalities, peer relationships, and looking at the overall classroom dynamics. Given the many factors that must be considered in these important decisions, please understand that parent requests can not always be honored.

If you would like to provide us with placement information, please visit our office to pick up a copy of the Placement Input form.

This form must be returned by Monday, May 4, 2026. It will be difficult to take parent input into consideration after this deadline, as the process of finalizing student placements and balancing classrooms is time-sensitive and critical to ensuring a great year for 2026-2027!
