📣 COMMUNITY REC SPORTS UPDATE! 📣

We have some exciting updates for both Soccer ⚽ and Football 🏈!

⚽ SOCCER UPDATE

🎉 We have found a coach for our Pre-K/K team!

Thank you to the volunteer who stepped up to help our youngest players!

We are STILL IN NEED OF 2 COACHES for our 1st–4th grade teams.

🚨 We cannot send out team information until we have these two coaches!

And remember—you DO NOT need to have a child playing to be a coach! Aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, grandparents, family friends…we need you! ❤️

Please spread the word and help us find two more volunteers so we can get our soccer teams finalized!

🏈 FOOTBALL UPDATE

🎉 We have also found a coach for our 3rd & 4th grade football team!

📣 COMMUNITY REC UPDATE FOR SOCCER! ⚽

We know everyone is excited to find out their teams, coaches, practices, and schedules—and we are working hard to get everything finalized!

At this time, teams have NOT been assigned yet because we are still looking for 3 volunteer coaches:

🏃‍♂️ 2 Coaches needed for Grades 1–4
⚽ 1 Coach needed for Pre-K/K

Once we have these coaching positions filled, we can finalize the teams and send out all of the important information to families.

If you have ever thought about coaching, now is the perfect time to step up and help our kids! You don't need to be an expert—we can provide the information and support you need to get started.

❤️ Our Community Rec programs depend on amazing parents and volunteers who are willing to give their time to our kids.

Fall sports are fast approaching, and we are excited to get the season started! Jerseys have been ordered, and we are eagerly awaiting the schedule from the league for football.

FOOTBALL:
At this time, we do know that our first game will be an away game on Saturday, September 12th. We are still waiting to find out where the game will be held. Coaches will be notified by this weekend, and practices are expected to begin within the next week and a half.

**Email was alread sent with this information to all football players. If you did not receive one, please reach out ASAP.

Football Coaches Needed!
If you have a player in 1st or 2nd grade, we are in need of several coaches for these teams. If you are willing and able to volunteer as a coach, please let us know.

SOCCER:
Coaches with their rosters will be contacted in the next few days. Practices will start in the next week and a half. Their season begins on Thursday September 10th.
Prek&k games are Saturday mornings.
1-4 games will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

CHEER:
If your coach has not contacted you yet, they will in the coming days to get practices all set up.

If you have any clarifying questions please don’t hesitate to reachout.

Softball Clinic Opportunity!

Emily (Puterbaugh) Roach pitched Summerfield to back-to-back State Championships in 2010 and 2011, and a Runner-up finish in 2012. She was named MHSAA All-State Pitcher in 2010, 2011, 2012, Monroe County All-Region team in 2010, 2011, 2012, and Monroe County All-Region Player of the Year in 2012.

Emily continued her pitching career at Huntington University (Huntington, Indiana) and led them to 2 NAIA National Tournament appearances. She was announced Crossroads League Pitcher of the Year in 2016.

Emily currently lives in Huntsville, AL with her husband Joshua and their pets Kimber (dog) and Henry (cat).

This is Steve Cook posting. For those that don’t know, I’m on the Summerfield Rec Board, and the one that drags and lines all the fields each and every day for our rec baseball & softball programs.

The purpose of my work is full of joy.

However; what is not joyful, is what I showed up to today. And this isn’t the first time.

This is a deeper problem than just the physical destruction of property not owned by whoever is responsible. The question I’ve asked myself with the multiple times I’ve shown up to scenarios like the one in the picture below, is not “Who?”; it’s “Why and how?”. Why and how has someone felt the need to do something like this? What’s missing in their life? If it’s a child; it’s a watchful parent/guardian. If it’s a youth/teen; it’s respect and care for the things of this world.

This isn’t maddening to me; it’s disheartening. Whoever did this, “needs something”. I pray that whatever it is that’s missing, it’s provided for them soon in their life.

Infinite Campus is working for some and not others. There is a software problem and will not be 100% fixed before registration ends.

Here are the solutions:
- try another browser, computer vs. phone, or try the app
- drop off registration to Summerfield Elementary School (cash or check)
- drop off registration at the Community Rec booth during Community Days on Saturday, July 11th until noon.

Registration extended to July 11th.
*No registration will be accepted.
