Hello Everyone,
We had a great first meeting last week and I look forward to another one this week. Remember, all are welcome. Just because you haven't come before that does NOT mean you can't come whenever you want!

We will meet Wednesday, 10/6 at 6:30pm at the Peterborough Town Library. Please wear a mask!

This week we will continue our conversation about philosophy, ethics, and the good life. What makes a "table" a table? What makes a "kitty cat" a kitty cat? (This is Plato) This conversation inevitably leads to "what is a good life and how ought I to be?" and also "in what ways do systems and structures keep people oppressed and how can we fight that?" and "how can philosophy empower us?" WOW!

I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday. Thank you!

In solidarity,
EB

Hello Everyone,
Revolution Ethics Project is back in person! It's Rev's 12th year and I am excited to try some new things, reach more people, and meet in a new context.

I'm excited to announce that this year's meetings will be co-sponsored by the Peterborough Town Library, and we will meet in one of the sparkling new classrooms in the new library!

We will meet this Wednesday, 9/29/21 at 6:30pm at the Peterborough Town Library. Masks are required and social distancing will be practiced. We will be done at around 8pm.

This year, I hope to continue our in person meetings for as long as we can. I also hope to hold Rev over Zoom for one Wednesday a month. The current plan is to meet in person on the first and third Wednesday of the month. We will be remote on the last Wednesday of each month.

The focus this year will continue to be justice and confronting those forces that stand in the way of human flourishing. You may know by now that I believe that has to include ethics, philosophy, theology, spirituality, history, politics, and plenty of self-reflection.

We will start this week by checking in on the developments of the past summer and then I want to get back to some of the important philosophers from the European tradition--in order to make a point!

Everyone is welcome. Feel free to bring a new friend. Spread the word! I'm very excited to see you (again).

Peace,
EB

Hello Friends,
We had to cancel last week, but we will be back at it this week! We will meet in person at Teixeira Park ("Mini Stonehenge") in West Peterborough on Wednesday, 6/16 at 6pm. Please note that is an earlier time than we usually meet.

This is likely to be our last meeting before we take a summer break. We will continue talking about the topics we have been covering for the past two months--Day, Berry, Dostoyevsky and capitalism. I have some fresh ideas that we could part with!

I hope to see you there. As usual, new friends are invited, and everyone is welcome. Radical hospitality!

Your friend,
Eric

Hello Everyone,
I have heard back from a number of seniors who can't come to Rev tonight as well as a couple of alumni and I have decided I should cancel tonight. Let's meet next Wednesday at 6:30pm, in the park, and talk about the same stuff.

I apologize to those who were looking forward to it tonight. I just want to be respectful to those seniors who have a special night (and week!) ahead of them.

Thanks for understanding and congrats to the seniors!
Eric

Hello Friends,
I would love to have a Rev meeting in person tomorrow but I'm aware that it is senior awards night at Conval and I don't want to conflict with that. I think I'll still hold Rev.

Can we do it in person at the Teixeira Park in West Peterborough?

I would love your feedback--tell me if you can't be there, or if it would be better if I did it remotely...etc. I want to serve the most people!

We will continue to discuss a lot of the themes we have been discussing: capitalism, alternatives, cooperation, and solidarity. We still have some Dorothy Day to talk about, but I also would love to get into Wendell Berry and I always have some Dostoyevsky in my back pocket.

I know it is likely to be buggy, so if we meet outside, take appropriate steps to protect yourself and maybe bring bug spray.

We will probably only have one or two more meetings before our summer break!

Thank you!
EB

Hello Friends,
This week, Rev will have another special meeting--we will meet in person at Teixeira Park ("Mini Stonehenge") in West Peterborough at 6pm. (no Zoom meeting!) We will continue our conversations about undermining selfishness, discussing cooperation, and a few new ideas like "personalism" to go along with distributism. AND we will help our friends at End Sexual Violence On Campus. Similar to how we helped Erin Sweeney in making art kits, we will offer our labor to help ESVOC distribute sexual and menstrual health products.

If you remember our time together in the part two weeks ago, you'll remember it was one of the highlights of the spring--so nice to see each other and do good work. I hope you can come on Wednesday!

I also have a possible opportunity for us this Friday night at "First Friday" in Peterborough. Stay tuned...I'll explain.

I look forward to seeing you in person on Wednesday. All are welcome!
Thanks!
Eric

Hello Friends,
We had a fantastic meeting IN PERSON last Wednesday. Thank you again to all who could make it. I had planned to meet in person at the park again this week, bu the weather looks dicey SO...

We will meet Wednesday 5/26 at 6:30pm via Zoom--use the usual Zoom link. While it would be nice to meet in person, I'm happy to continue to serve our friends who Zoom in from a distance. We will keep the conversation going about Anarchism, Tolstoy, Day, and Berry. We still have a lot to talk about!

If you need the link, let me know. See you tomorrow evening on the Zooms!

Hello My Friends,

We have a very special Revolution Ethics Project meeting this Wednesday (5/19) at 6pm (note slight time change). It is special because we will meet IN PERSON at Teixeira Park ("Mini Stonehenge") in West Peterborough. I really hope you can be there.

For this reason we will NOT have a Zoom meeting. If you are used to joining us remotely, don't fret. We will get back to some remote meetings soon.

On Wednesday, we will continue our conversation about alternatives to capitalism, and resistance that promotes humanity and fights exploitation. This means a continuation of our Dorothy Day--Wendell Berry--distributism--Personalism conversation.

We will also talk about "real utopias" as a solution to exploitation while we participate in a real utopia! That's right! We will be helping Friend of Rev Erin Sweeney as she builds art kits for distribution at her now famous "Art Table." We will help with some easy labor while talking about good work. Look for her on Instagram .
This is just the beginning of a relationship with Erin and the Art Table--we will be doing some art with her in the coming months of Rev!

If you have any questions, please let me know. If you need help finding Teixeira Park (Mini Stonehenge) just let me know.
I look forward to seeing you Wednesday at 6pm.

Hello Friends.
Don't forget today is voting day in our small towns like Peterborough!

We will have our next Revolution Ethics meeting on Wednesday, May 12 at 6:30pm using the usual zoom link. All are welcome!
We will continue our conversation about Dorothy Day, the Catholic Worker, and we will also move to related ideas by Tolstoy, Gandhi, and Wendell Berry. It is good to talk about ideas that value people over profits!!

We have been on a roll lately, so please feel free to join the fun.
Thanks!
EB

Hello Everyone,
Sorry I had to cancel last week but we will be back at it on Wednesday, 5/5 at 6:30pm. You are all welcome as is anyone else--radical hospitality!

I saved last week's material, which means this week we will talk about Distributism, Dorothy Day, but also the I.W.W. (the Wobblies!), Anarchism, maybe Tolstoy, and Wendell Berry!! That is quite a list of cool things! How could that all relate???

I look forward to seeing you Wednesday.

Thanks!
EB

Hello Everyone,
I have heard from a number of Rev participants who have major conflicts--a track meet, college scholarship applications, work--so I have decided to cancel Rev for tonight, 4/28. We have some great stuff to talk about and I don't want too many people to have to miss out.

We'll get back to it next week. This is a busy time of year at the high school so we'll try to be flexible.

See you next week!
EB

Hello Friends,
Last week we had an interesting conversation about "Distributism" and Dorothy Day and I'd like to continue it this week. We will talk about other families of beliefs that are related, including Anarchism, which doesn't mean what we think it means! Tolstoy, Gandhi, Dorothy Day, and even Noam Chomsky!

And then we will work towards Wendell Berry--as I promised. I think you'll really like learning about some of these ideas because they are so often overlooked or misunderstood.

See you on Wednesday, 4/28 at 6:30pm in the usual Zoom. Let me know if you need the link!

EB
