Odissi Dance with Ruma Classical Odissi dance classes for all ages. Beginner-friendly, with a focus on technique, rhythm, and expression. Group and private lessons available.

DM or Email for details. Odissi is one of India’s most graceful classical dance forms, rooted in tradition yet deeply relevant today. It is a dance of flowing lines, gentle rhythms, and expressive storytelling. Our classes offer a calm, welcoming learning space for children, teens, and adults of all genders. The focus is on strong foundations, expressive movement, and personal growth. No prior dance experience is required. Whether you are stepping into dance for the first time or returning after years, this is a space to move with intention, clarity, and grace. Classes include:
Foundational Odissi technique
Posture, balance, and flow
Rhythm and musicality
Expressive movement and storytelling
Short choreographic pieces

The classes are guided by Ruma, who has devoted over two decades to studying and living the Odissi tradition under the guidance of revered gurus, and has performed on many stages. She welcomes students to join her - to dance, to explore, and to experience the quiet magic of Odissi!

Come join the next 4-week introductory Odissi session, starting Saturday, August 29 at Blue Door Yoga in Penngrove! 🪷

This introductory session is designed to get you dancing from the very beginning. Along with learning the essential foundations of Odissi, we’ll start bringing movement and rhythm together into a short dance sequence. So you can experience the art form as a dance, not just a set of techniques.

If you enjoy yoga, mindful movement, or have simply been curious about learning Odissi, this is a wonderful place to begin.

No previous dance experience is needed.
