Fun in the garden today for Mr Steeves class!

Our harvest today is amazing and included tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, carrots, celery, , jalapenos, gourds, grapes (and sun dried raisens)!

It was an amazing haul, and fresh picked veggies taste the best!

Garden will be open this Thursday from 10am-12pm if you would like to help w**d, water, and whack (bring your own w**d whacker).
Construction is happening at school so:
🍓no kids for safety reasons
🍓🍓 you must come through the office &
🍓🍓🍓walk straight back and turn right after room 16

The garden hosted our 4th graders on Gold Rush Day… turns out there’s GOLD in our creek and also it makes a nice “jail” for our outlaws. YEE HAW for this flexible and beautiful learning space on our campus! 🤠💰

Gardening is not just good for growing things to eat or flowers to admire!

Did you know that there is a natural antidepressant in the country? It’s a Mycobacterium vaccae bacteria found in the soil that humans ingest or inhale when they spend time in nature and gardening. This bacteria stimulates the brain part responsible for producing serotonin. The most passionate gardeners will tell you that their garden is their “happy place” and that the actual physical act of gardening reduces stress and lifts mood. 😍 Mycobacterium vaccae also improves cognitive function, it has an effect on Crohn’s disease and even rheumatoid arthritis. The natural effects of these antidepressant bacteria in the soil can be felt for up to 3 weeks. 🌱🌱🌱🌱

I spent the week at Corona Creek in the garden! It was amazing to be in my favorite place on campus with everyone again!

Our school garden is full with the promise of spring!🌻
Students were busy during Earth Week planting veggie starts in the raised beds, seeds in the greenhouse, flowers in our new Pollinator Garden, and 2 new trees on the playground.
