Questions about hosting an exchange student?
❤️❤️Here are some answers!❤️❤️
IS OUR HOUSE TO SMALL? The size of your home is not important. Many students come from countries where homes aren't large. A shared bedroom with another child of the same gender is fine.
ARE MY CHILDREN TO SMALL? Often students feel more comfortable with younger children. They are less hesitant to practice their language skills with children.
WHAT IF WE AREN'T A TYPICAL AMERICAN FAMILY? What is a typical American family? The greatest variety of lifestyles is what makes this country unique and exciting.
ARE WE TOO BUSY? Many students enjoyed being with busy families. It gives them the opportunity to experience a greater variety of situations.
WHAT IF WE BOTH WORK? The students are busy too. They are often involved in activities after school. The students become part of your family - you are not expected to entertain them all the time!
WHAT IF WE DON'T ALWAYS EAT SUPPER TOGETHER? Many families are busy with evening activities. As long as you eat supper together some evening's and your student doesn't always have to eat alone, it will usually be fine.
ARE WE TOO OLD? Students enjoy the possibility to speak English and learn about American lifestyle - you can't be too old for that! Students often enjoy having host parents who have a lot of time to spend with them.
WHAT IF WE CAN'T AFFORD IT? Students bring their own spending money and take care of their own expenses. The host family is only responsible for room and board.
STUDENTS ARE: Eager to come to America and became a part of your family and community.
Ages 15 to 18, attend your local high school. Bring their own spending money, have their own insurance.

She says she loves living in a small town because it's quiet. Alessia is a typical teenage girl. She loves volleyball, music, movies and dancing. She also loves dogs even though her parents won't allow her to have one. She has been playing volleyball for 8 years and hopes to play in the U.S.
She is a straight A student who says that "I won't cause problems and I would like to be a part of your family, making you happy and proud. I suppose to be a good friend and daughter and I will help you whenever you need, hoping you'll do the same with me. I wish that this year will be great for me and also for you!"
Would your family consider hosting Alessia?
Message me for more information on hosting Alessia or another of our amazing students coming for the 2022-2023 school year.

Why do people host an exchange student?

Having talked to families about hosting for 15 years (or more really!) the most consistent reason people initially express interest is because they hosted as kids or they knew an exchange student in school that they liked!

That really speaks to the power of exchange: Building lasting feelings of goodwill between people of our country and another!

Could this be the year your family considers hosting?
