🚧 PHS Demolition Update🚧

Big steps forward are happening on campus in the coming weeks! Crews are officially preparing to begin demolition on the tornado-damaged Perryville High School.

Here is the quick timeline:

Week of June 15: Equipment and crews mobilize on campus.

Week of June 22: Demolition officially begins.

Duration: The cleanup and removal process is expected to take 9-10 weeks.

🚨 Big News for tornado recovery at Perryville High School! 🚨

Yesterday, we received official notification from FEMA that the damaged Perryville High School building has qualified for “replacement” status under the Public Assistance Grant program.

The PHS building officially met FEMA's 50 percent threshold rule. In short, this means FEMA agrees that the cost to repair the building exceeds 50 percent of what it would cost to replace it entirely.

Because of this ruling, our future reimbursements will be based on estimated replacement costs rather than repair costs. This is the news we were patiently waiting to hear because it means we will ultimately be able to recoup more federal assistance from FEMA as we build a new home for PHS.

FEMA is currently calculating the exact dollar amount of our eligible costs and we will share that information as soon as it is available.

As a reminder, any FEMA funding the District is awarded will not come in one lump sum. The District will receive gradual reimbursements after submitting documentation of expenditures throughout the construction process.

Perry County School District 32 will offer free breakfast and lunch to all Perry County children during summer session, May 27 through June 16.

This is available to all children 18 or under who reside in Perry County, regardless of school enrollment or affiliation. Children do not need to be enrolled in summer school or camp to participate. Students enrolled in D32 summer school and camp are automatically registered for free meals.

District 32’s summer session is held Mondays-Fridays, through June 17 and meals are served at both the Primary Center and the High School cafeterias. Breakfast is served from 7:20-8:30 a.m. in both locations while lunch is served from 10:50-11:30 a.m. at Central Cafe and 11:00-12:50 at the Primary Center.
