Our recent PPW meeting featured two fantastic guest speakers:
First, Ochiltree County Justice of the Peace Eric Kerl detailed the responsibilities of his office, which include managing marriages, inquests, and bond settings. He brings extensive law enforcement experience to the position and shared his passion for serving the community.
Next, Sarah Tregellas introduced the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, an organization that mails free monthly books to young children. Ochiltree County recently joined this program to help get books into more local homes. Studies highlight that early access to books significantly boosts a child's development and prepares them for school!

We had a great and informative program from Milly Aragonez, RN with Palo Duro Aesthetics, Spearman. Milly was an inspiration to the members with her story. She has worked hard in her short life to get into the field of different aspects of nursing. Thank you Milly!

PROGRAM FOR MONTH OF MAY ⭐️

We had the opportunity to hear from Officer Steven Jenkins with the Texas Department of Public Safety. After serving 21 years in the military — 4 years in the Marines and 17 years in the Army — he has now spent the last 16 years as a State Trooper.

Officer Jenkins shared insight into the differences between city, county, and state law enforcement, explaining how dispatch determines which department responds based on the type and location of a call. He also discussed how Texas DPS is divided into regions and districts, with Perryton being part of Region 5.

We also learned more about the day-to-day responsibilities of a State Trooper, from traffic enforcement and accident response outside city limits to deployments across Texas for major public events, riots, and presidential security support.

Thank you, Officer Jenkins, for your service and for taking the time to speak with us today. We sure loved having you!
