We just returned from a brief vacation to Sedona, AZ, one of my favorite places to unwind and absorb the natural beauty of the most amazing red rocks on the planet. It’s a strange combination of beliefs including Native American spiritism, New Age philosophies, and hippie nonsense that dominate the social scene and business merchandising. But there is an inescapable beauty of God’s handiwork that trumps all of it. We’ve made more than one trip there and always find a presence of the Holy Spirit of the one true God, the Creator of the universe.

It’s a place to appreciate not only the natural beauty of the area, but also some of the finest cuisines representing the true southwest. On a humorous note, there are very few fast-food restaurants but as expected there is a McDonalds. The story behind its presence is unique. When the McDonalds organization first approached the city they found there would be no place for a giant “Golden Arches” sign. There are ordinances regarding the size and colors of commercial attachments to a business. Of course, court battles ensued, etc., but in order to do business there, it would be imperative for McDonalds to comply. The result is the only McDonald’s restaurant in the world to have arches at ground level and are not golden. They are turquoise.
The McDonalds Corporation was initially unhappy with the decision but as time moved forward it just so happens that this particular restaurant is the most photographed property in the McDonald’s worldwide empire.

Sedona is uniquely represented by some extremely wealthy people including business tycoons, Hollywood elite, and the like. Homes are generally valued in the millions of dollars for the permanent residents. A recent study revealed that the average homeowner there is age 65 and over, retired, and their home there is only one of three they occupy at certain times of the year. The wealth represented there is borderline incalculable. This probably explains the pristine condition of the community as a whole.

I highly recommend a visit to Sedona, Arizona. If you can afford to stay awhile there are numerous hotels/motels/resorts from which to choose. Otherwise it makes a great day trip although only one day will hardly give you the opportunity to experience the many wonders Sedona has to offer.

It is with mixed emotions that the Conservatory bids farewell to our Theater Director and our Stage Manager, Matt and Kayla Bigham. For ten years the Bighams have worked tirelessly with the young people of our community to bring some incredible stage productions for our summer entertainment and for the artistic endeavors of hundreds of local children. Their dedication and hard work lent a great deal to the vision of bringing the fine arts to the isolation of our community. Matt and Kayla are relocating to the Lubbock area where he will assume new teaching positions in a much larger setting. We are sad to see them go but congratulate Matt on this huge step up in his career. We know they will be a great asset in the new position.
Thank you, Matt and Kayla for the legacy you are leaving behind and we all wish you the very best in your new home.

Doors open at 2:30, and the show starts at 3:00 at the PJH auditorium! Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/children.

And don't forget to order your shirt(s) while you're there!

PARENTS: After today's performance, we will be striking the set and taking cast pictures. Please make sure your student(s) remembers this and doesn't try to leave early, because we would hate to have them not in our picture(s)!

Also, students need to arrive at 1:30 today!. 😊

Did you miss the opening night performance? That's okay! We have another performance tonight! Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7:00!

Tickets can be purchased at the door: $10 for adults and $5 for students.

This year, we are also offering attendees the chance to order their own Annie t-shirt! Payment is due at the door, and shirts are $20 for youth and $25 for adult sizes.

It's opening night!
Parents: please have your student at the school no later than 5:30 so we can get set, in costume, and get everyone's makeup done.
Students: let your parents know if you are one of the students who needs to run a section/dance/song with Mrs. T-Kaye before the show, and be there by 5!

To assist with make up times and decent personal hygiene (regardless of COVID - it's just good practice): all students need to arrive with basic foundation, eyeliner, and mascara, if possible. We will provide shadow, detail, cheeks, and lips based on each student's roles.

If you have any questions, please text the stage manager. She will be available to call after 3PM, but will not be at her phone after 5PM.

NOTICE: with tonight's rehearsal being our last before the show, please note that rehearsal may run past 6PM. We try our hardest to ensure that the kids are able to attend any and all services, including Wednesday night; unfortunately, we've lost tomorrow's rehearsal and can therefore no longer guarantee the kids will be released in time to make every service this evening. This will be our last chance to fix any and all issues in the production in order to provide each audience with the best show possible! We apologize for any inconvenience and thank all of you for your continued patience and understanding. None of this would be possible without you!

Also, please know that the kids will be sent home with their parent tickets this evening! Each ticket may be used once per performance, so be sure to bring them with you to each show. If you have any questions or concerns, please text the stage manager at (806) 681-5168.

UPDATE: Due to increasing scheduling conflicts, we will not be having rehearsal on Thursday.

Also, a reminder to everyone that show dates/times have changed. Students need to be in Mr. Bigham's room no later than 5:30 on Friday & Saturday, doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7:00. Sunday, students need to arrive by 1:30, doors open at 2:30, and the show starts at 3:00!

PARENTS: just a reminder about our upcoming all-day tech & dress rehearsal on Saturday. We will be starting at 10AM, so students need to arrive by 9:50. We will be feeding the kids lunch by celebrating all of their hard work with a pizza party! Due to the amount of work needed Saturday, please note that rehearsal may run past 4PM, but we will do our best to release your kiddos as soon as possible.

Attendance Saturday is mandatory, as we will be doing all of our costuming during this rehearsal. Girls will need to bring or be dressed in a tank top & shorts, preferrably dark in colour, as they will wear these under their costumes. Boys will need dark coloured jeans or khakis, as these are not always available to us in the varying sizes our kids need. Other costuming needs will be determined Saturday, so be watching for a note written specifically for your child.
