Nearly 100 early childhood professionals, educators and Owens students gathered at Owens Community College for the 9th Annual Early Childhood Forum, focused on Reclaiming Play.

Sponsored by Owens’ Department of Teacher Education and Human Services, the forum brought together professionals from across the community to share knowledge, strengthen connections and explore ways to better support young children and their families.

Owens ECE faculty members Kimberley Fisher and Nehama Miller also led the workshop “Reclaiming Risk: The Essential Role of Risky Play in Early Childhood.”

We’re proud to support opportunities that connect our students and community partners while advancing the important work of early childhood education.

Manufacturing has entered its high-tech era. Let's talk about what's next.

In the latest episode of the Conversations Podcast, President Dr. Dione D. Somerville speaks with Renato Esteves, Senior Director of Operations at Whirlpool Corporation, about the future of manufacturing and its workforce needs.

Esteves, who has been with Whirlpool for nine years, shares how technology continues to transform manufacturing and why today’s industry looks different from the manufacturing many people may remember.

Modern manufacturing is clean, high-tech and built around problem-solving, creating exciting career opportunities for people with a wide range of skills and interests.

As Owens celebrates Manufacturing Month, Esteves encourages the next generation to take a fresh look at manufacturing and the opportunities it offers. Curious about the future of manufacturing?
