We’re excited to announce that the Perry Service Learning Program has again been awarded Youth Service America’s We Serve to Remember grant!

A huge thank you to YSA, AmeriCorps, and 9/11 Day for supporting opportunities that inspire youth to serve while honoring the legacy of September 11.

Because of this grant, our PSL and SADD students will:
❤️ Volunteer in the KidsZone, Barrel Ride, Face Painting, and Parking during the Perry Fall Festival
🇺🇸 Partner with the American Legion to honor our veterans through a service project at Perry Cemetery
☕️ Host a Veteran’s Breakfast at the Perry Senior Center
🌟 Engage youth beyond our program to make a difference in our local and global communities

We are super grateful for this opportunity to help our students learn that one of the most meaningful ways to remember is through service to others. Stay tuned for photos and updates from these projects in the weeks ahead!

🌱 The Giving Garden is growing more than food… it’s growing youth leaders 🌱

Each week, recent Perry Service Learning grads who serve as our Zero Hunger Garden Fellows, along with current students and program alumni, come together to support our community through service. Their work in the garden will help provide fresh produce to neighbors in need, while also strengthening the values of leadership, teamwork, and civic engagement.

We are super grateful that Lifeline, Inc. chose to recognize PSL with one of their 2026 Outstanding Community Partnership Awards.

And we’re even more excited that one of our students, Jake Neer, was celebrated as a 2026 Volunteer of the Year. They shared that, “whether organizing resource drives, supporting community events, or working directly with clients, Jake steps forward with enthusiasm and a genuine desire to make a difference.”

Congrats Jake! And thank you to the incredible staff at Lifeline, who have collaborated with PSL for more than 20 years.

Lots of classes come through, but this class was something special. At graduation, it was even suggested that you might be the “best class” and we can’t say that we disagree.

It was a day full of memories with the Class of 2026, which was made even more special with visits from Mr. Nemecek, Mr. Bals, and Miss Pinter, and a retirement shoutout to Mr. Soeder.

A little cloudy? Yes, but celebrating our seniors who each volunteered 100+ hours of service this year still made the day shine.

We are grateful to the Buser Family Foundation for sponsoring the annual PSL Hundreds Picnic, and proud of the 30+ students who earned this distinction through the time, talent, and treasure they shared with our community.
