We have quite the collection each week of jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other belongings that are looking for their owners!

A HUGE congratulations to Libby Davis on a fantastic lesson plan and we are so proud of her! She took 3rd yesterday October 7 at the State Finals for the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Education (AFNRE) Career Development Event (CDE) with a Gold Award!

In case you aren’t sure of the details for this endeavor, here are the details for the contest and her lesson!

In this event, students design and deliver a full teaching lesson on an ag, food, or natural resources topic to a small group of peers, then take questions from judges. It's a great test of lesson planning, content knowledge, and teaching skill. Libby's lesson, "Where Does Milk Come From?", walks first-year ag students through how milk travels from a dairy farm to the grocery store, using a card-sorting activity to reinforce the process.

‼️IMPORTANT CHANGES TO STUDENT WORK PERMITS‼️

Michigan is changing the way students under 18 obtain work permits.

Beginning October 2, 2026, schools will no longer issue youth work permits. Instead, students and employers will complete the process through the State of Michigan’s new Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP).

📌 What students and families need to know:
• New work permits must be completed through the online YEPP system.

• Employers must register with the State before hiring minors.

• Schools will no longer approve or issue work permits.

• Existing, valid school-issued permits will continue to be honored.

• A new permit is required if a student changes employers or begins working at a different worksite.

• Michigan’s existing requirements regarding work hours, wages and workplace safety remain in effect.

Please plan accordingly if your student is looking for a job or currently working. The new process is effective today, October 2, 2026.
