Bonaire Middle School Lily Jacobsen won Best in Show at the Ga National Fair With her watercolor of peaches sitting in a window seal with tiny little ants crawling around. Bonaire Middle school student, Amanda Garcia won Best in Category with her octopus texture painting. Mossy Creek Middle School student, Mabel Mora won Best of Category with her tropical pastel. Many other Houston county students were awarded ribbons as well. Artwork is located in the Miller Murphy Howard building near the West gate.

🎶 Band Night is coming! 🎶

Join us Tuesday, October 6 at 7 p.m. at Freedom Field for one of our favorite nights celebrating music education across the Houston County School District! Every middle school football band and high school marching band in the District will be represented as hundreds of student musicians come together for an evening of music, school spirit and celebration.

The evening will begin with a mass band performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner,” featuring all of our middle and high school band students. Our middle school musicians will then perform together before each high school marching band takes the field to showcase its 2026 halftime and competition show.

Admission is FREE! Come cheer on these talented young musicians and celebrate the hard work, dedication, and passion they bring to the field all season long.

Check out Hilltop Elementary School's Dot Day Display! Each student from Kindergarten through 5th grade created their very own dot design and contributed to this massive dot artwork. Some kinder friends also celebrated by making their own hats to wear for Dot Day on September 15th!

2nd grade at Hilltop Elementary School is learning about direct input and using their Sphero Bolt robot to identify and name different shapes.

🌱💧 Learning Comes to Life in Mrs. Geiger’s 4th Grade Gifted Classroom! 💧🌱

Our gifted learners got hands-on today as they created their very own terrariums while exploring the interconnected world of ecosystems and the water cycle! 🌎🌿

Students discussed how living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem work together, how plants depend on water and sunlight, and how water continuously moves through the environment. Then, they put their learning into action by designing miniature ecosystems they can observe and learn from over time! 🔬🌱

It was a perfect opportunity to ask questions, make predictions, problem-solve, and watch science happen right before their eyes. We can’t wait to see how our little ecosystems change and grow! 💚

Science + creativity + hands-on learning = a great day in Mrs. Geiger’s class! 🪴✨
