The Promontory Difference: This is Inquiry.

What if learning started with a question instead of an answer?

At Promontory, students don't just learn about the world from a textbook. They go out and investigate it for themselves. During fieldwork, our students examined historical artifacts up close, searched for answers, and recorded their observations as they connected what they were studying in the classroom to real-world evidence.

Because learning should inspire questions.

It should encourage exploration.

And it should lead to discoveries. 💙

That’s a wrap on Student-Led Conferences! 🎉

Twice a year, Promontory students take the lead in sharing their learning with their families and teachers. They talk about what they’ve been working on, celebrate what they’ve accomplished, reflect on their progress, and share the goals they’re working toward next.

It’s pretty special to watch students take ownership of their learning, and even better when you get to see how proud they are of the work they’ve done. 💙

We had such a fun time participating in the Statewide Read-a-Thon!

Promontory put our own spin on the day with mystery readers, campfire stories, reading buddies, a character hunt, and plenty of time to simply get lost in a great book.

One of our favorite parts was watching students of all ages come together over a shared love of reading. Our older students stepped into leadership roles, new friendships were made, and our school was filled with readers everywhere you looked.

It was a pretty great day to be part of the Crew.

As part of their Farm Expedition, our 1st graders examined an egg firsthand, identifying its different parts and connecting what they’re learning in the classroom to the real world.

They weren’t just learning about an egg. They were cracking it open, examining it, and discovering what’s inside.

At Promontory, the outdoors isn’t a break from academics. It’s an extension of them.

Our outdoor classroom is a place for serious thinking, meaningful discussion, investigation, problem-solving, writing, and discovery. The setting may look different, but our expectation of academic excellence remains the same.

Students are challenged to think critically, support their ideas with evidence, ask meaningful questions, and dig deeper.

We don’t choose between adventure and academics. We use adventure to strengthen academics.

The Promontory Difference: This is Tenacity.

Some lessons aren’t learned sitting at a desk.

At City of Rocks, our 3rd and 4th graders faced a steep climb and discovered what they were capable of along the way. They climbed higher, pushed through the hard parts, and kept going even when the path wasn’t easy.

Tenacity is choosing to keep climbing when the challenge gets bigger.

Learning doesn’t stop when our Crew walks out of the classroom.

Our students take what they’ve learned and apply it in real environments, with real experiences and real purpose. They’re collecting, observing, testing, questioning, and making connections between classroom concepts and the world around them.

Because learning becomes more meaningful when students get to see it, touch it, test it, and experience it for themselves.

Healthy Minds & Healthy Bodies!

Our kindergarten Crew took their learning into the real world with fieldwork at Lee’s Marketplace and Smith Family Fun Park!

At Lee’s, students explored how the choices we make can help fuel our bodies and keep us healthy. Then, at Smith Family Fun Park, our amazing movement teacher, Ms. Sandy, joined the adventure and helped students get moving, stay active, and experience just how much fun it can be to move their bodies!

From learning about healthy choices to putting their own bodies in motion, our kindergarteners discovered that taking care of our minds and bodies is an adventure!

Learning reached new heights at City of Rocks!

Our 3rd and 4th grade Crew took their learning into the field at City of Rocks, where they explored ecosystems, observed adaptations in the real world, and conquered some pretty impressive rock formations along the way!

From noticing how plants and animals are adapted to survive in a rocky environment to experiencing the landscape firsthand, this is what learning at Promontory is all about.
