The purpose of Perry Hall Christian School is to provide an educational institution where Christian parents can send their children to meet their mental, social, physical, and spiritual needs. Perry Hall Christian School has been established to help parents “train up a child in the way he should go” (Proverbs 22:6) and to “bring them up in the fear and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). It i

s the purpose of the school to provide a sound academic education integrated with a Christian view of God and the world. There are important differences between the Christian and non-Christian viewpoints on any given subject. Even though knowledge is factually the same for both, no subject can be taught in the totality of its truth if the Creator is ignored or denied. Knowledge is purified by the recognition of God’s place in it. No other approach to education can be entirely God-honoring, for parents and children, as is such an approach through the Scriptures. Perry Hall Christian School seeks to train leaders for succeeding generations who will impact society for good. We diligently seek to instill the old-fashioned values of faith in God, love of family, patriotism, respect for authority, and hard work, all in an academic environment of motivation toward excellence. The goal is to produce graduates who are productive in their careers for the glory of God, for the benefit of society, and for personal fulfillment.

🎉 Meet the Staff: David Kuriny! 🐾💙

We’re excited to welcome David Kuriny to Perry Hall Christian School as our new Middle School Social Studies Teacher!

David brings teaching experience from Maryland public schools along with degrees in Secondary Education English and TESOL. He is especially looking forward to being part of a close-knit Christian community and helping students get excited about learning.

A fun fact about David: his wife, Blanche, is a PHCS alumna, and their daughter, Oli, is a future Panther! Their family also spent this summer on a cross-country road trip visiting 26 National Parks and Monuments. 🏕️🇺🇸

David’s favorite Bible passage, Romans 12:6–8, is a reminder that God has given each of us gifts that can be used for His glory.

What a wonderful way to kick off the new school year! At our first All Faculty & Staff Meeting this week, we gathered in prayer, lifted our voices in worship, and reflected on Scripture.

Each faculty and staff member was welcomed back with special gifts, including PHCS apparel, a delicious cookie generously gifted by Perry Hall Baptist Church, and a bookmark featuring 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, reminding us of Christ-like love.

We are grateful for this time of fellowship and encouragement as we begin another year of serving, teaching, and loving others through Christ. ❤️

🏗️ Panther Center Construction Milestone! 🐾
This week marks a major milestone in the Panther Center project—and one that’s mostly happening underground!

After nearly 50 years of service, the campus is transitioning away from its existing wastewater system, which relied on a large underground storage vault and pumps to move wastewater uphill to the public sewer system on Cliffvale Road.

With the new sewer line installed through the main parking lot this summer, the Perry Hall Christian School and Perry Hall Baptist Church campus is now transitioning to a gravity-fed sewer system, allowing wastewater to flow naturally downhill to the public sewer connection on Schroeder Avenue.
The former concrete vault structure has now been removed, and a new manhole structure has been installed as part of the new system. The photos show the transformation—including a look down into the new manhole where the new sewer lines tie together.

It’s another important step in modernizing the shared PHCS/PHBC campus and preparing the way for the Panther Center!

🎉 Meet the Staff: Katelynn Yingling! 🐾💙

We are excited to welcome Katelynn Yingling to Perry Hall Christian School as our new 3rd Grade Teacher!

Katelynn earned her degree in Elementary Education and Liberal Studies from Notre Dame of Maryland University and brings years of experience working with students from preschool through 8th grade.

Her heart for ministry and Christian education is evident in her desire to help students grow both academically and spiritually. She is especially excited to join the PHCS community and encourage her students to “like Jesus!”

One of Katelynn’s favorite verses is 2 Corinthians 5:7 — “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Join us on Thursday, September 3 for a fun evening designed to help our new families and students get acclimated to PHCS! You will explore classrooms, meet teachers, connect with classmates and enjoy time with the PHCS community.

Pizza, chips and soda will be available for purchase, and our new School Store will launch with fun school supplies, specialty items and spirit wear! Please bring cash for food and school store purchases.

🎉 Meet the Staff: Rebecca “Becca” Manry! 🐾💙

We’re excited to welcome Rebecca Manry to the Perry Hall Christian School family as our new Front Office Manager!

Becca brings a strong background in communications, marketing, and media, with experience serving in church ministry and several communications roles. She is especially excited to be part of a school community that keeps Christ at the center and to support our students and families throughout the year.

A fun fact about Becca: she is a pastor’s wife and mom of three! Her favorite Bible verse is John 16:33, a reminder that even in times of trouble, we can take heart because Christ has overcome the world.

🎉 Please join us in welcoming Dr. Holly Varnum, our new Middle School Principal, to the Perry Hall Christian School family! 🐾💙

Dr. Varnum brings decades of experience in Christian education, leadership, curriculum development, and discipleship. Throughout her career, she has served students and families in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, instructional coach, writer and editor, conference speaker, and middle school principal.

More importantly, Dr. Varnum has a deep love for Christ and a passion for helping middle school students understand God’s truth, discover who they are in the eyes of their Creator, and develop a biblical worldview that will guide them throughout their lives.

Originally from Maine, she still enjoys every opportunity to have some good “lobstah!” 🦞 Outside of school, she loves cooking, baking, hiking, traveling with her husband, crafting, and tackling DIY projects.

Dr. Varnum is incredibly excited to begin this new chapter at Perry Hall Christian School, and we are equally excited to have her here! Please help us give her a warm Panther welcome as we look forward to an amazing year in Middle School! 🙌🐾
