EXTRA DIRRTY šŸ«’

Draw 1 to kick off the Open Derby at Best of the West, marking a big score that kept us in championship contention until the very last horse showed.

I couldn’t be prouder of ā€œOliveā€ and the performance she laid down, earning a very respectable 3rd place finish! šŸ„‰

Thank you, Suzanne Caldwell Farris, for your continued support and for being part of the journey. It means more than you know!

Starting colts isn’t about how fast you can make them go—it’s about how slow you’re willing to go.

Especially with a thinker and reactive, running-bred horse, patience builds confidence. Give them time to understand, time to process, and time to trust.

Slow doesn’t mean less progress. It means building a foundation that lasts. 🐓🧱

THANK YOU Jessica for giving us the opportunity to start your babies.

Coming back from an injury is never just about getting the physical part back. It’s about rebuilding confidence, trust, and the mindset to perform under pressure.

Olive walked back into the show pen at the high roller derby felt that pressure again, and gave me everything she had. We came home with a check, which is something to be proud of—but I know there’s more in her. With ā€œoliveā€ It’s not the physical ability she lacks. It’s learning how to handle the mental pressure of the show pen that has made me approach her training differently. Sometimes the best thing you can do is slow down, listen to your horse, and build confidence one ride at a time.

I’m proud of how far she’s come, and even more excited about where we’re headed.

Would like to thank dr moss of Temecula Creek Equine for helping rehab olive and JH for making the right changes to keeping her sound, and of course Suzanne Caldwell Farris for her trust and support in getting olive back in the show pen.

Now it’s about finishing these derbies on a positive note, continuing to build her confidence, and letting her know that she belongs right where she is.

Becoming a horse trainer. It all starts as a dream. A passion. A love for horses and the love for a sport.

What people don’t tell you is it is a demanding and all-encompassing journey that deeply involves both the trainer and their family. The profession demands extensive travel to shows, relentless day and night work, and an unwavering focus on caring for the horses. The commitment is all-encompassing, with long hours, dedication, and a lack of time for vacations or leisurely weekends, as the horses become the center of one's life. They become the center of the families life. Every second of everyday.

In this arduous profession, the trainer's family is an integral part, providing support and understanding, as they share the sacrifices and joys. The ups and downs of the industry are weathered together, with the wins serving as the ultimate validation and reward for the tireless efforts. Protecting the customers and their investments becomes a vital responsibility, and the love for the horses and the passion for the job are the driving forces that keep them going, making it all worthwhile.

I want to thank my whole team for the endless hours of dedication to the horses and our team. And to my wife who is always by my side even when we catch a 3am nap at the show before that start of the next 24 hour hustle. All of you are what makes this childhood dream of mine a reality.

Reining is one of the most disciplined equine events there is. It demands patience, consistency, feel, commitment, and the willingness to keep working even when things don’t go your way.

And that’s what I admire most about my non pro rider Laurie.

She keeps showing up. Even after the bad rides. Even when things don’t feel right. Even when it would be easy to get frustrated or walk away, she finds a way to turn it into something positive and come back ready to work.

As her trainer, I’m proud of the progress she’s made in the arena, but even more proud of the person she continues to become outside of it. Always showing up to cheer other teammates and always supportive. I’m proud to be her trainer, but even more grateful to call her a friend.

Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep believing. The good rides mean more when you’ve earned them through the hard ones.

There’s something special about watching your rider step outside her comfort zone and realize she’s capable of more than she thought. šŸ¤

First time showing in Vegas, no expectations—just a willingness to learn, experience it, and give it her best. But the real accomplishment wasn’t a score or a placing. It was having the courage to put herself out there. And now she’s coming home with something even better than a result: more motivation, more confidence, a purpose and an even bigger desire to be better for the next show.

That’s what this journey is about. Step outside your comfort zone, learn from every experience, and come home hungry to keep improving.

Proud of you Vegas was just the beginning. šŸ–¤šŸ“

Roping prospect with the breeding to back it up!

Bred by the legendary Pitzer Ranch and proudly owned by Ken Negrete. We’re putting a solid reining foundation underneath him before he graduates into the roping arena.

The goal isn’t to rush the job. It’s to build a horse that’s broke, confident, and ready to go to work. šŸ“šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Congratulations on the purchase of your new horse BEE WHIZ sired by SPOOKS GOTTA WHIZ out of Cee Bee Shine by Shining Spark ✨

Buying a horse is exciting, but what excites me even more is everything that comes after. The hours spent in the saddle, the trust that’s built, the lessons learned, and watching a partnership grow one ride at a time (literally).

Thank you Christine for trusting me to guide you through this journey. There’s nothing more rewarding than helping someone not only become a better rider, but a better horseman. My goal has always been to build a strong foundation that gives both horse and rider the confidence to succeed—brick by brick.

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you and your new show partner. This is just the beginning, and I’m grateful to be a part of it. Congratulations on this exciting new chapter! šŸ„‚
