Happy National Boss’s Day to our Superintendent, Dr. Gordon Amerson! 🎉

Dr. Amerson spent today at Orange Vista High School celebrating National School Lunch Week alongside our ValVerdeFood team and students! With a fun carnival theme, the celebration highlighted the importance of school meals and the amazing team members who help nourish our students every day.

Thank you, Dr. Amerson, for your continued leadership and dedication to our students, staff, and Val Verde community! 💙

A little Tajín, a lot of flavor! 🌶️

Our secondary schools celebrated National School Lunch Week and wrapped up Hispanic Heritage Month with our first ever Tajín Takeover! From Tajín cheese quesadillas and lime chicken wings to citrus chicken burritos, Mexican street corn, and chamoy peach yogurt parfaits, our students got to enjoy bold flavors inspired by Hispanic culture.

Thank you to our ValVerdeFood team for bringing the flavor and making lunchtime extra special! 👏

Did you know some of our Val Verde students became food critics? Well...kind of.

Before Val Verde’s Nutrition Services team added its new scratch-made Green Pozole to the menu, they wanted to hear from the people whose opinions matter most: our students!

Students at three Val Verde schools taste-tested the recipe, rated it and told staff exactly what they thought.

The result? About 80% gave it their stamp of approval! 🙌

But staff didn’t stop there. When students said they wanted a little more flavor, Nutrition Services went back to the Central Kitchen, adjusted the seasoning and added lemon juice—all while making sure the recipe continued to meet school nutrition guidelines.

It’s a small glimpse into something families may not always get to see: the thought, creativity and care happening behind the scenes to make school an experience students can enjoy and have a voice in.

And judging by one student’s review, they may have nailed this one:

🔥 “You’re really going to put this on the menu!? It’s fire.”

Student tested. Student approved. And made even better with a little student voice. 🥣💚

Calling the Val Verde Community!

On October 10, Val Verde Unified is bringing its first-ever Band Review to the streets of Perris—and our students would love to see the community lining the route to cheer them on!

Seven Val Verde middle and high school bands will take to Morgan Street, putting months of practice, teamwork and talent on display as they compete in music, marching, showmanship and more.

And for the younger kids watching from the sidelines? Pay attention—you may be looking at a future musician. Val Verde students can begin exploring music in elementary school and continue into band, choir, guitar, piano, audio production, Mariachi and more as they grow.

📅 October 10
📍 Morgan Street — Nevada Ave. to Webster Ave.
🚗 Spectator parking at Val Verde High School
🌮 Compas Tacos will be on-site with food and drinks
🏆 Awards ceremony to follow in the VVHS gym

Bring the family, find a spot along Morgan Street and let’s give these students the crowd they deserve! 👏🎺🥁

🎓✨ College Kick-Off Spirit Day! ✨🎓

These elementary students brought BIG energy, excitement, and school spirit as they celebrated their futures! From college colors and spirit wear to caps and gowns and outfits representing their dream careers, our scholars proudly showed they are READY for the future.

The celebration was filled with engaging presentations from a scientist and our very own Val Verde District Police Department, giving students the opportunity to learn about exciting college and career pathways and the many possibilities ahead.

We are proud to celebrate our students as they dream big, explore their interests, and envision their futures. The possibilities are endless, and the future starts right here! 🌟
