Sergeant Kirkpatrick radio chief, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, I would like to say thank you to Samuel Hernandez, Heath Tanner, Adam Crawford, Casey Beach, Michael Goodman, Madyson Jump, Jacob Kinder, Anthony Pacheco, Luis Jimenez, Patton Lawrence, Courtney Davis, Kendyl Armstrong, Emma and Lane Self, And Rafy Alvarado for taking time out of their day to write to me for Memorial Day. I want them to know that each and every Marine dearly appreciates the support that they show for us and they are the reason we are proud to do what we do each day. Thank you

This past week has been an extremely tough week for the Pirate Family as we have suffered the loss of two very special people. There is an old saying that goes something like this, adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it. This week the character of the Pirates was on full display. I witnessed our athletes love one another and stand beside their hurting teammates. I learned this week that when one Pirate hurts, all Pirates hurt. This week our kids mourned and cried together. This week our kids also responded by winning a big volleyball match Tuesday night, running impressive races and times in Cross Country at Weatherford Tuesday, and showing up big under the Friday Night lights to win the opening game of the season against Chico. I am extremely proud of our athletic program and even more proud to be a Pirate! It is a great day to be a Pirate!
