Today we’re celebrating two of the true MVPs of Seylar for Administrative Professional Day —Becky Ogden and Amy Hewes! 🎉

If you’ve ever called, walked in, or needed anything at all… chances are these two were your first stop. They are the ultimate gatekeepers, the first line of communication, and somehow manage to keep everything (and everyone 😅) running smoothly in the front office.

From juggling phone calls, students, staff needs, and a constant flow of visitors… to handling the daily “surprises” that come with a busy elementary school (and yes… even my own chaos), Becky and Amy do it all with kindness, positivity, and a smile.

They are the heartbeat of our front office and help make Seylar such a welcoming place for our entire community. We are incredibly lucky to have them!

Our Tile Mural Project is officially complete… and it is AWESOME. 🎉

This incredible display represents every student and staff member at Seylar—each tile telling its own story while coming together to create something bigger than all of us. It’s a true reflection of our school community: colorful, unique, and PROUD.

We’re not quite finished yet… just a fresh coat of paint on the sides and a few Thunder paw prints to add that final Seylar touch 🐾—but we couldn’t wait to share it with you!

A huge THANK YOU to our Seylar HSA for generously funding this project. Your support helped bring this vision to life, and it’s something our students will be proud of for years to come.

⚾️ Rams Supporting Panthers! 🐾

Today, we’re excited to welcome student-athletes from our PHS Baseball program as they visit our primary grades to give back to our younger learners!

Thank you PSD Athletic Director, Henry Hunt, for organizing these elementary student & HS athlete partnerships! We are incredibly grateful for this partnership and the opportunity it provides for our students to learn from one another. 🎶 Making Music at Seylar! 🎶

Our 3rd graders are hitting all the right notes in Mrs. Cattich’s music class! From learning proper finger placement to reading notes on the staff, students are building the foundations of musicianship—one song at a time.

And yes… we know what you’re thinking… the recorder phase is officially here 😄 — but behind those squeaks and squawks is real learning, focus, and growth. It’s amazing to watch students stay engaged, support one another, and gain confidence as they improve each day.🎵

Keep practicing, 3rd grade—we’re proud of you!

Thank you Amanda Fuller and Christina Beer for putting together this amazing Candy Bar for our staff today! 🍬🍫

I’m not sure what was sweeter—the treats or the smiles walking out of that room! From chocolate to gummies to everything in between, you officially made it impossible for anyone to have a bad day at Seylar.

Staff may have gone in for “just one piece”…but we all know how that ended 😄

We are so grateful for the time, thought, and care you put into making our staff feel appreciated. This is what makes our Seylar community so special! 💙

At Seylar Elementary, building a culture of acceptance, understanding, and belonging is at the heart of everything we do. 💙

Next week, we are proud to celebrate Autism Awareness and Acceptance month next week (April 7–10) with special spirit days that highlight inclusion and celebrate what makes each of us unique. From Turn It Blue Tuesday to Sensory-Friendly Friday, our students and staff will come together to learn, support, and uplift one another.

Seylar is also home to our regional autistic support program, which makes this work even more meaningful. This program is an integral part of our school community, helping shape a culture rooted in empathy, respect, and acceptance for all.🐾

We are so excited to share that installation has officially begun on our school-wide tile mural here at Seylar! 🎉

Every single student and staff member had the opportunity to design and create their own unique tile, and together, these pieces will come to life as a beautiful new PROUD mural in our main hallway. This project is a true reflection of who we are as a school community—creative, connected, and committed to something bigger than ourselves.

At Seylar, our nationally recognized school-wide positive behavior (SWPBIS) program is the backbone of our positive culture and climate. The PROUD expectations we live out each day are not just words—they’re actions, choices, and relationships that make our school such a special place. This mural will stand as a lasting symbol of those values and the collective spirit of our students and staff.
