The USDA has made available to us some delicious fruits!
Last week we had fresh pears. Yesterday we had something new!
Local Kiwi Berries! This fruit is the size of an olive or grape, and tastes similar to kiwi, but sweeter. We mixed ours with fresh strawberries and kiwi.

Seton was 1 of 125 Iowa schools to receive funding through the Choose Iowa Local Food for Schools Program to purchase Iowa grown and raised food. Each school will receive approximately $1,600, which will be matched at least one-to-one by the school. The program funding allocated by the Iowa Legislature was evenly distributed among schools so that every eligible school that applied for the program received funding.

Choose Iowa Local Food for Schools Program “Back-to-school season is an exciting time for Iowa students, families and educators, and it is also a great opportunity to put more Iowa grown and raised food on school menus,” said Secretary Naig.
