New Staff Spotlight! 📣☘ Please join us in welcoming 3 new teachers: Ms. Laura Delgado (Theology), Mrs. Pam Beaver (Science), and Mr. Brady Culp (Science).

✨ Ms. Delgado grew up in South Bend, IN. She entered education after witnessing first hand the transformative impact that theology teachers can have on their students. She wanted to participate in that mission of spreading the surpassing gift of knowing Christ onto the youth and looks forward to Mass being available everyday at PND. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Delgado loves reading, painting, scrapbooking, and picking up any instrument, especially the guitar and piano. She also was once told that she could probably beat Caitlin Clark in a game of basketball!

✨ Mrs. Beaver comes to PND after a long career in public education. She originally pursued education because she wanted to inspire students through science, build meaningful relationships, and help every learner discover their potential both inside and outside the classroom. Mrs. Beaver is looking forward to growing in her faith at PND by speaking more clearly with God, as well as listening better to what He wants of her personally and professionally. Outside of school, Mrs. Beaver loves spending time with her 3 grandchildren and 5 children. She enjoys swimming, hiking and being outdoors. Fun fact: she also has a twin brother Paul, who was born three minutes before her.

✨ Mr. Culp is a recent college graduate who is excited to be back at PND as a teacher! He reflected that during this transitory time in his life, he is now the example of faith for so many students and is excited for the responsibility to live out the witness of the Gospel. He is excited to teach at PND knowing that while we have great tools to get students to college, our primary goal is to develop saints and disciples of Jesus. Some of Mr. Culp’s interests and hobbies include country music, ultimate frisbee, rooting for the Cardinals and Patriots, and having just gotten his degree, he enjoys talking about the brain. In undergrad, Mr. Culp was an intramural softball champ AND worked as an EMT and firefighter in Carter Lake, IA!

Before school started, we spent time with student leaders to build community, faith, leadership skills, and time management.

We hosted our first-ever Student Leadership Summit, which brought together students leaders from Campus Ministry, All School Council, and Student Ambassadors. Students spent time in prayer, listened to talks from PND alumni Fr. JohnPaul Stedwill and Molly Hogeboom, attended Mass and a Holy Hour, and considered ways to build community and enhance our mission to form disciples of Jesus Christ throughout the school year in their respective roles.

As well, at their own orientation Student Ambassadors practiced giving tours, outlining their roles at new student orientation, and speaking with pretend prospective families. (Huge thank you to our awesome staff and parent volunteers!)

We are looking forward to an amazing year! ☘

New Staff Spotlight! 📣☘ Please join us in welcoming our two new Spanish teachers: Señora Marta Vidal (pictured on left) and Señora Lourdes Robles-Lugo (pictured on right).

✨ Born and raised in Colombia, South America, Mrs. Vidal earned her degree in Foreign Language Education, with a focus on English and French, from the University of Cauca. She moved to Peoria in 1996 and later earned her master’s degree from Illinois State University. She began her teaching career in Peoria Public Schools at Rolling Acres and, three years later, continued her work at Richwoods High School. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in World Languages.

Mrs. Vidal is passionate about curriculum and instruction, sharing her beloved Colombian culture, traditions, and language, and making a positive impact in her community. She believes that teaching is a journey where connections happen and new perspectives become real.

Outside of school, Mrs. Vidal loves spending time with her family and her dachshund, Benji, who keeps her company during much of her free time. She also believes that life with Benji and a good cup of Colombian coffee can turn an ordinary day into a wonderful experience. She is excited to bring her love of language, culture, and connection to the PND community.

✨ Mrs. Robles-Lugo began teaching Spanish ten years ago and has enjoyed working with students ever since. What drew her to teaching Spanish was the chance to help students learn both the language and Hispanic culture, something that will be utilized in daily lives and future job opportunities. She enjoys helping others whenever she has the opportunity, so teaching is especially rewarding. Mrs. Robles-Lugo looks forward to strengthening her beliefs and connection with God at PND. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Robles-Lugo enjoys cooking, gardening, reading, photography, going out of town to explore new places, visiting friends/family or spending the day relaxing at home, watching TV shows, and listening to music.

We had our first All School Mass of the 2026-2027 school year this morning! Fr. Daniel and Fr. Chase concelebrated Mass, and we were also joined by PND alumni and seminarians Danny Miller (Class of 2024) and Dominic Taylor (Class of 2023). After Mass, students wrote prayers for Tuesday morning intercom announcements, and as an advisory, they completed saint trivia! Fr. Daniel, Danny, and Dominic also went around to pray a Hail Mary in each classroom and bless the room. We are so blessed to have such an amazing community of faith here at PND! ☘

On Monday, the counseling team met with our seniors during A & B advisories to review the fall timeline for our students' next paths -- whether that be college or university, a branch of the military, a vocation, or the trades. Discussion topics included letters of recommendation, transcript requests, and a checklist of tasks to complete accordingly over the next few months. We are so grateful to our counseling team for providing such amazing guidance to our students! ☘

In preparation for a new school year, our faculty, staff, and students have been participating in a variety of retreats!

First, our staff kicked off the year with a retreat at the Brothers of St. John in Princeville. The theme of the retreat was the virtue of hope. Fr. Daniel gave excellent talks on the topic, and the staff participated in Mass, Adoration, and Confession. We also were hard at work making rosaries for the Beatification of Fulton Sheen! Diocese of Peoria EWTN

Next, our student-athletes and their coaches had a great retreat to kickoff the fall season! Fr. Chase Hilgenbrinck celebrated Mass and then served as guest speaker on the topic of perseverance. Then, teams moved into breakout sessions to set goals for their upcoming seasons.

We love the way retreats support our mission of forming disciples in a community of Catholic faith, knowledge, and service! ☘
