Wildcat Action News: March 16, 2026 Weekly Newscast from the Students of Wilder-Waite Grade School

Two weeks ago, Wildcats raised money through the Chuck-A-Duck event, in order to purchase hats for those in the Illinois Cancer Care Chemo Unit. Today, our second graders prepared 223 hats for delivery!
We hope that these hats can brighten the day of those receiving treatment, and that they feel supported by everyone here at Wilder-Waite!

First grade has been exploring the wind’s power and its effect on people and the environment in our literacy module, Powerful Forces. Students have been diving into books about wind, weather, and forces — building their knowledge and vocabulary along the way!We were so excited to welcome a meteorologist to our classroom to help bring our learning to life. Students loved hearing how wind and weather are measured, predicted, and studied in the real world. 🌪️🌦️

On Thursday, Wilder-Waite students participated in Chuck-A-Duck to raise money for those battling cancer. Students took part in the event during PE times, chucking their ducks for a good cause. Through the event, Wilder-Waite raised nearly $2,000 to go toward purchasing hats for cancer patients! Thank you to our generous Wilder-Waite students and families who helped contribute to this cause!

On Friday, 4th and 5th Grade Wildcats participated in the annual Wilder-Waite Spelling Bee! This year's spellers did an amazing job of representing themselves and their classrooms. Congratulations to all of our spellers, and a special congratulations to our runner-up Rey, and this year's champion: Haaniya!

We are proud of these Wildcats!
