5/11/26: At the 2026 LHS Athletic Awards Ceremony, our historic season continued as we celebrated Luciana Del Carlo on her nomination for 2025-2026 Female Athlete of the Year and Riley McNamara on her nomination for 2025-2026 Female Newcomer of the Year!
> Thank you to Beth, Victoria, Calista, Giuliana, Alina and Sofie for coming out to support their teammates.
> Our off-season has begun as there are only 273 days until the 1st day of tryouts for our 2027 season!

We had our 2026 LHS Girls Tennis Banquet at Abuelo’s celebrating a historic season! These 12 Lady LIONS’ accomplishments:
> 2026 PUSD District Tournament Champion
> 2026 PVCC Doubles Tournament Champion
> 12-2 Record (2nd best record in LHS Girls tennis history)
> #4 ranked school (out of 66 schools; highest rank in LHS Girls Tennis history)
> Hosted and won 2 State TEAM matches and reached the semifinals match (both firsts in LHS Girls Tennis history)
> 4th straight AIA Northwest Section Title
> Beth & Giuliana - voted best Doubles team in Northwest Section
> Coach Hew voted best Coach in Northwest Section (4 straight years)

TEAM State Match time! Come cheer on your LHS Lady LIONS as we face our toughest opponent yet, the Hamilton Huskies, #1 seed, at 10:30a on Friday, 5/8, at Phoenix Tennis Center. With Tuesday’s win over Chaparral, these 6 Lady LIONS made school history by becoming the 1st girls team to make it to a semifinal match of the AIA Team State Tournament! Let’s go LIONS! 1 TEAM, 1 DREAM!

5/5/26: Lady LIONS defeat Chaparral Firebirds, 5-2, to advance to the 2026 AIA TEAM State semifinal match vs Hamilton Huskies, #1 seed, this Friday, 5/8 at 10:30am at Phoenix Tennis Center! Special shout-outs to:
> Victoria Chavez, Senior, V6, for securing our 4th singles point with a come from behind 3 set victory: 6-7, 6-3, 13-11 tiebreaker.
> Luciana (Sr), Riley (Fr) and Giuliana (Fr) for winning their singles matches!
> Luciana / Beth for winning their #1 doubles match to secure our victory!
> Families, friends, alumni, students from other schools, coaches from other schools and Vistancia/Peoria communities for coming out to cheer us on…

2026 AIA Team State Quarterfinals tennis match! The LHS students, families, friends, Vistancia community and the Peoria community responded last week to cheer us on to victory over Casteel. We NEED you again tomorrow, Tuesday, 5/5 at 3pm as we host a tough Chaparral team that upset Rincon, #5 seed, in the 1st round. Wear your LIONS attire or colors and come cheer on these 6 Lady LIONS as they try and become the 1st LHS tennis team in school history to advance to the Semifinals! Come be a part of HISTORY (or Her-story)!

5/2/26: Congratulations to Luciana on a solid quarterfinal match as the score didn’t reflect the quality of the play. Even though the 2nd round of TEAM State is next Tuesday, she has had a PHENOMENAL high school tennis career:
> 81-19 regular season record
> 4x Varsity Letter recipient
> 4x AIA TEAM State participant
> 4x AIA Individual State participant
> 2x Quarterfinalist
> 1x Semifinalist
** So excited for her as she continues to play collegiate tennis at Colorado Mesa University this fall!

5/1/26: So proud of how these 4 Lady LIONS competed today at the 2026 AIA Individual State Tournament!
> Beth & Giuliana: 1st appearance at State Tournament vs #5 seed from DM. After a slow 1st set, they fought back and almost pulled off an upset, 0-6, 6-3, 7-10 (3rd set Tiebreaker).
> Riley: 1st appearance at State Tournament. She won her 1st round match 7-6, 6-2. She competed and learned a lot in her loss to the #4 seed from Hamilton.
> Lucy: #7 seed and 4th State Tournament appearance. She won her 1st and 2nd rounds today and will compete vs the #2 seed in a quarterfinal match tomorrow, 5/2 at 10am at Paseo Racquet Club. Please come out to cheer her on!

4/28/26: LHS Lady LIONS beat Casteel Colts, 5-4 in the 1st round of the 2026 AIA Team State Tournament! Thanks to all the parents, siblings, families, neighbors, friends and Vistancia Community Friends for coming out and cheering us to victory. Special shout out to:
> Luciana, V1: 6-1, 6-0 singles win!
> Luciana & Beth, V1 Doubles: 8-4 Doubles win!
> Riley, V3: 6-0, 6-1 singles win!
> Giuliana, V4: 6-3, 6-2 singles win!
> Riley & Giuliana, V2 Doubles: 9-7 win!
Next up: We host Chaparral HS next Tuesday, 5/5 at 3p (if we follow AIA rules).

Calling all LIONS: families, friends, alumni, etc! We need to PACK the tennis courts tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/28 and cheer on our 6 Lady LIONS as they compete against Casteel in the 1st round of the 2026 AIA TEAM state tournament! This is the 2nd time in school history that we are HOSTING a Team state match! Wear your LHS attire or colors and come be LOUD (yes, you can CHEER at a tennis match!). Please arrive by 2:45p for our match announcements and festivities! Lineup:
