Super Bowl LIX? Well, same teams as 2 years ago, but decided to make cakes anyway.

Still a little bummed from killing the business/training side of Your Unforgettable Cake, but needing to stick with enjoying the process as a hobby and freeing up some time for other balls I've been juggling that hare more important form a legacy / life goals.

Well, it lasted 3 years, 10 months, and 19 days. It was a run... not a good run... but a run.

After several failed attempts, "Your Unforgettable Cake" as a business venture is officially coming to an end.

Will be turning in final paperwork this week. This page will continue, and I'll still share cakes (& fake cakes) and videos but it will be just for fun, creative outlet, and to share with others who care to follow along.

I still love the dream of training hundreds of people - mostly busy moms - how to use Buttercream Transfers for their family and friends then tracking the number of cakes made by the Your Unforgettable Cake community.

Honestly, I think if I had started a year earlier - in the early days of the pandemic - I would have had a better go of it. Maybe, but I won't play the 'what if' game, I didn't start a year earlier.

Anyone who has purchased the training will still have access to the training videos as promised, and those who purchased the training through various auctions and not contacted me as the winner can still do so, just reach out to me here or [email protected]

I received a fair amount of interest from people wanting me to make them cakes, but not learning how to do it themselves, but unfortunately county health codes and other legal issues made that an unviable option.

At this point I *think* but am not fully certain, about whether to keep the "YourUnforgettableCake.com" domain and email address.

From the business perspective, this is an insanely easy decision, but personally, after pouring more hours than I want to think about into the effort, it is a pretty miserable feeling, and that is probably the only reason why I've held on this long.

I'm glad I tried it, rather than NOT trying it and wondering what might have been.

Next round of "cakes" will be focused on characters who are black & white (mostly/entirely). Keeping it simple after the last round of many colors with Tom & Jerry (time lapse video now up at Your Unforgettable Cake) , Tweety Bird, and Michigan State / Mossville School.

Who else am I forgetting?

When some friends were coming over for dinner several weeks ago I asked what characters their 8-year-old daughter liked, fully expecting to hear some name that I was going to have to look up.... nope! Tom and Jerry. Tweety Bird. Woody Woodpecker.

Knew I was making a cake for the evening, but made it much more fun being cartoons I remember watching regularly myself as a kid!

We've set up a new host for the training videos, so you can learn how to make an infinite number of images through the simple steps of Buttercream Transfer - see link in first comment to help us test the set ups.

Got some frosting for a planned Michigan State cake that didn't wind up working out, so made a number of "fake cakes" for , Mossville School, and then drove by Richwoods High School and saw their logo and thought "that'll cake!"

"Fake cakes" because the buttercream transfers are just on flipped over cake pans - no calories, then just scrape off the transfers in the trash.

The online training option is coming back, so if anyone is interested in learning how to decorate cakes using buttercream transfers - or as a Christmas gift for someone else - follow the Your Unforgettable Cake and links will be shared in the next week or so!

Had some friends over for dinner earlier this week, and I asked what cartoon characters their daughter liked - fully anticipating an answer that I had probably never even heard of.

Was thrilled when familiar names like Tom & Jerry, Tweety, Sylvester, Woody Woodpecker came back, so had a blast making the cakes below.

I've lost count how many times I've been told "well I could never possibly do that!" Well, with maybe 10 minutes or so of training/piping practice, their daughter made her first Buttercream Transfer, then we sent her home with a cake and check out her FIRST cake effort! Incredible job, and it only gets easier from there!

Putting some final touches on a re-launch for Your Unforgettable Cake online training, with an additional discount until the end of 2024 - and a fundraising opportunity for groups (whether an official non-profit or not!)

To be honest, if there are some repeat teams in the Final 4 I might just re-use the cake videos from last year!

Why wait to see who wins? For the second straight year decided to make a "Final Four" college collage. Interestingly, while last year had several perennial...
