On Tuesday night my son Trevor Poplawski broke his arm at football practice. Although it was so heartbreaking, I have to say the Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Trainers, and the players on the Varsity and JV football team have been incredibly supportive. The night Trevor was in the ER his phone was blowing up with nothing but love and prayers. Today he went to school and his friends on the football team helped him out with various things. I'm overwhelmed with all of the support Trevor has received, it makes you feel good as a parent. Congratulations to Centennial's Students of the Month, seniors Brian Liang and Lian Mitchell, recognized by the Peoria Rotary Club Friday. Brian serves as a leader in FBLA and DECA. He plans to attend ASU next year to earn a dual major in business and finance. Lian is President of National Honor Society and the Engineering Club, as well as Drum Major of the Band! She plans to attend NAU and major in elementary education. Both received $100 gifts from the Peoria Rotary Club, recognizing them for exemplifying the organization's value of "Service Above Self." Rotary also donated a wheelchair in each student's name to a recipient in need.

September is Teen Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and Centennial will hold its annual "Mental Health Fair" during both lunches on Tuesday, September 26th. Students can choose to learn life-saving information that can connect them, their friends, and family to hope!

Teen Lifeline is hosting this event with these agencies: Quail Run Behavioral Health, Aurora Behavioral Health, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, The OCD and Anxiety Clinic, Turning Point Healing Center, Ala Teen, and Safe Place, to provide students and adults with knowledge of the signs of su***de, risk factors, healthy coping skills, and knowledge of how to access community resources.

For many years, Centennial has honored former Coyote Kenny Schall who paid the ultimate sacrifice dying in the line of duty. Kenny was a proud member of the CeHS golf team…so many of our current/former teachers and coaches have been a huge part of honoring Kenny---including the annual golf tournament. This year we have expanded to have the tournament honor all Military Veterans with our 14th Annual Veteran’s Memorial Golf Tournament. About 90 golfers between the boys and girls hit our home course this Thursday and Friday.

Centennial Family, our campus is closed today due to a water main break. Teachers will provide virtual learning opportunities for each class period. Students should expect to receive an email from each of their teachers, indicating directions for the class period and the means by which students can confirm their attendance. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to restore water, air conditioning, and restrooms in time for the start of school tomorrow.

Congratulations to ‘23 senior basketball standout Emery Young. This afternoon, surrounded by his parents, coaches, teammates and other Coyote athletes, Emery signed to study and compete at Arizona Christian University! He was an important leader on three straight final four teams and last year’s state championship squad, and now we wish him all the best at ACU.
