Today is the first day of Fall Break! We hope you have a relaxing break with your loved ones. Follow along with us this week as we highlight some of the things we're thankful for. To start the week off, we're thankful for our dedicated teachers and staff who work hard to serve our students and families each and every day.
Earlier this week, our first graders went on a field trip to Butterfly Wonderland. They were able to observe the stages of a butterfly’s life cycle, watch a 3D movie about the migration of monarch butterflies, and get up close and personal with a variety of beautiful butterflies, fish, and reptiles.
Today is My Life Day! This is a full-day Wednesday, so be sure to adjust your pick-up schedules.

This week is American Education Week, where we appreciate the valuable gift of education in our country and communities. To celebrate, we thank all educators for doing the necessary work to ensure the future of our students is bright! Yesterday, our First Graders were able to learn about different careers as part of their "Community Involvement" unit. Thank you to the parents who volunteered to come present. Our students really enjoyed it!

Our school received an “A” Label from the Arizona Department of Education. We are so proud of our students for their hard work last school year!
Student Council is excited to be selling cookie dough as a fundraiser for our club. Wooden Spoon Cookie Dough is made by the same manufacturer that created and makes Butter Braid pastries. The delicious flavor lineup includes: Chocolate Chip, Confetti, Oatmeal Cranberry, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle and Triple Chocolate. Each 2.5 pound package contains 40 pre-cut ready to bake cookies sells for only $18 each. Orders can be made online from November 1st- 15th. Please use the QR code or the link on the flier to order. All orders will be delivered to school on December 7th and sent home with your child (not delivered to your house). In the notes section, please list your child’s name and their homeroom teacher for who the order should be sent home with.

This week is Red Ribbon Week! Sunset Heights is dedicated to creating a drug-free America and raising awareness about the dangers associated with drug and alcohol use. Wear your red ribbons to help spread awareness!
Last week, 2nd grade had a field trip to Tolmachoff Farm. They had so much fun learning about vegetables. They even got to bring home their own veggies and a pumpkin!

October is National Economic Education Month and we are proud to celebrate by continuing economic education in our classrooms. At Sunset Heights, we aim to ensure our students are prepared for life after graduation with economic awareness and personal finance skills.
Six grade students were working in the lab today. They are currently working on being able to identify physical and chemical changes and matter. We love having this extra space to have students learn!! 👩🔬👨🔬
