Babies and parents alike benefit from this ancient tradition that has been practiced around the world for centuries and is now being rediscovered in the United States. Research shows that infants who are massaged daily sleep better, have less colic, and gain weight faster, while parents experience decreased stress, reduced anxiety, and increased confidence in their parenting skills.

This class is designed for young infants under 12 months of age. Parents will learn how to massage different parts of their baby and adapt strokes to meet each child’s individual needs. They will also have the opportunity to meet other parents and exchange ideas. The class is open to infants ages 6 weeks to 12 months and their caregivers, including babies of all abilities. Infant massage is a bonding activity between parents and their children. In the most basic terms, infant or pediatric massage refers to the process of stroking the muscles of an infant using a variety of specialized massage techniques. Vocalization, eye to eye contact, and other positive behavioral reinforcements are also important components of the massage.

Infant Massage Instruction can be used in home visiting programs, hospital settings, parenting programs for teens, early intervention and other settings. This enrichment program gives you both classroom time and field practice to earn your certification.

These 2 day workshops have been approved by the MO OPEN Initiative & will be found on the MO Workshop Calendar.

They have also been approved for 16 hours of Early Intervention Credit in Illinois.

What a great Saturday morning spent with AMAZING EARLY CHILDHOOD PROVIDERS! These committed providers are joining me for a three-part series to implement developmental screenings into their child care and Pre-K programs. Our final activity for day one was coming up with our developmental screening slogans. They were so creative!
