Peoria Unified MET Professional Academy

MET Global Business students visited the new Jupiter Wings location on Union Hills in Peoria today to learn from owner Jason Higgins about the daily operations of owning a restaurant, product development and marketing. Additionally, students had the chance to learn about Jupiter Wings unique concept that serves everything on their menu as traditional or vegan.

Keep an eye out for a new menu item that is being developed by our Global Business class for this locally owned business.

MET Professional Academy Medical students learned how to recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED while earning their BLS Certifications this week.

MET Professional Academy Global Business students had the incredible opportunity to visit AZ ICE Peoria to learn about their family-oriented business and the unique challenges of operating a skating rink in Arizona.

Check out the great things that are happening at our post-secondary partner Glendale Community College. MET cybersecurity students were invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Gaucho Security Operations Center (GSOC), the first Security Operations Center in the Maricopa Community College District focused on providing students real-world experience prior to graduation.

MET Maker Campers presenting problems and solutions to everyday traffic problems on our roadways. They not only presented to the other campers, but Chris Lemka from the City of Peoria was there to listen and give positive feedback. He said the presentations were phenomenal. MET Technology campers modeled the cybersecurity concept of Threat Modeling by creating Lego fortresses. They simulated being a part of Blue Team by creating ways to defend their creations and the Red Team by finding vulnerabilities in the other groups' fortresses.

MET Med II students spent the day learning about the PA profession at NAU’s Phoenix Biomedical Campus. Thank you to the students from the PA program and the staff for making this day possible!

MET Engineering II students visited the Hoover Dam today and first-year Medical students designed and taught lessons about human body systems to junior high students at Apache Elementary School.

Thank you to everyone who turned out on a beautiful Saturday morning to support the City of Peoria New River clean-up.

Saturday was a record-setting day for our New River clean-up efforts. 54 people removed 134 bags of trash. The total pounds of trash removed is now over 35,000 lbs. This group consisted of PUSD MET students, Future Farmers of America and ROTC students as well as our regulars and a team from the City of Peoria Water Services. Seeing the migrating Robin drinking from a pool in the New River reminds us all why it is important to keep our waterways clean and Leave No Trace!
