Leaving-A-Legacy in Both Words & Deeds 01/16/2024

Hello Friends & Alumni! The dawning of new years also brings reinvigoration of passions and ideas. In an effort to do better about keeping everyone informed & to move forward with building our financial standing in order to offer the support to our beloved FFA chapter, I present to you the Leaving-A-Legacy In Both Words & Deeds Google Form. We have received a grant from National FFA and part of the plan for those funds is to have a Constant Contact like company so we can easily share out our information. Please complete at your earliest convenience & also know your responses are understood so no matter what it is, know that it is okay!
You can fill out your information at

Leaving-A-Legacy in Both Words & Deeds "I believe in the future of agriculture, with a faith born not of words but of deeds – achievements won by the present and past generations of agriculturists; in the promise of better days through better ways, even as the better things we now enjoy have come to us from the struggles of former year...

Hello FFA and Agricultural Education Supporters -

As you may, or may not be aware, The University of Arizona’s Department of Agricultural Education, Technology and Innovation has been facing some challenges lately. They are currently without a full-time dedicated department head and have an acting department head from the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences (outside of the agriculture industry). We are greatly concerned about what this means for the department and its future within the College of Agriculture, Life, and Environmental Sciences and The University of Arizona. There have been some meetings taking place with different alumni, industry and agricultural education groups and there has not been much movement as of yet. So we are putting out the call: As supporters of FFA and Ag Ed, we are also all supporters of this department so we are asking if you would please consider the following:

Please consider emailing the following people asking for:
1- The Department to stay an active department in the college.
2- They start the search for a quailified candadate for Department Head.

Please include how the department has impacted you as a student, teacher, or through your own experiences at the college, within the department, or as an alumni. We believe personal experience will help greatly with this and we all can showcase how much AETI does for agricultural education and the agriculture industry. Having this department to train agricultural educators and other students entering the agricultural industry is essential in our state.

Please also share this message with others who have a stake in this and would support the department and its efforts to support agricultural education and FFA.

WE DID IT!!!! Tonight the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board voted 3-0 with (1 member absent) to rename the Peoria High School CTE/Industrial Arts building to honor Mr. Lyle "Grandpa" Wright.
A very special thank you to PUSD Chief Communications Officer Danielle Airey for assisting us in our presentation to the board and getting us on the agenda, to Mr. Kevin Norris for his impassioned speech conveying the impact that Mr. Wright has had on the Peoria High School community for decades and to all of the friends and family members that came out to support them initiative that has been desired for over 20 years now! More information will come out about a dedication ceremony when known (but it will likely be next year)

If you feel like you missed your chance to honor Mr. Lyle Wright at his celebration of life last weekend, fret not. We are also working on the process to rename the AG building that was built in the early 2000's to The Lyle Wright Agriculture & Industrial Technology Center. If you would like to write a letter to be sent into the PUSD Governing Board, please send emails of support to the same email address. Also, please share with those individuals who may not be active on social media as well. Thank you!
