Sunrise Mountain High School, part of the Peoria Unified School District, is located in the Northwest Valley and is labeled an excelling high school from the AZ LEARNS achievement profiles. It is one of the largest unified school districts in Arizona and prides itself on excelling schools, award-winning teachers, high AIMS test scores, specialized signature programs and championship sports programs.

Each month, throughout the school year, one of our community partner agencies will be sharing their expertise regarding important topics affecting our youth today. They will be providing quality information, support and resources. August's presentation will be presented by notMYkid on the topic of Teen Mental Health. We wanted to take a moment and thank a few people who really stepped up when needed. Working here, we are often reminded that โItโs a great day to be a mustang!โ Today was no exception. When faced with the stressful situation of having to move and organize hundreds of books, multiple teachers and students stepped up and offered help. We would like to thank Jessica Batty, Nick Rizer, Steve Decker, and the Freshman and JV football teams for lending a hand to move all of the old curriculum science and math books. We definitely could not have done this without everyoneโs help! Thank you all for making SMHS such an amazing place to work and for helping out when your fellow mustangs needed a hand! ๐

Recent graduate from Sunrise Mountain High School, Jakob Halbur, will be attending North Carolina State University in the fall! There, he will major in chemical engineering, and plans to attend medical school in the the future. Jakob was selected as a student speaker at Sunrise Mountain's commencement ceremony and made a lasting impression at the school as their National Honor Society president, and DECA member. Jakob also received a top score at the International DECA Conference in the role play category. This young man has a bright future ahead of him and we wish him all the best!
