What made you decide to become a teacher?
I knew at 6 years old that I wanted to become a teacher. I never seemed to waiver from becoming a teacher. The older I got the more I realized that I wanted to teach Elementary grade level.
What inspires you?
At the very beginning my first grade teacher inspired me. I wanted to be just like her when I grew up. She was kind and always smiling. She spoke in a gentle voice and she made all of us feel so very special. In all my 30+ years teaching from Pre-school to Kindergarten and now Reading in Title 1 Kinder-8th it's the children that inspire me everyday and every year. Their smiles, their wanting to share and talk with me and those eyes when they open wide when it finally clicks. The relationship that we have built throughout the school year inspires me to continue on teaching.
What quote or saying do you live your life by?
The quote I live my life by is (To treat others the way you would like to be treated.)
