Cranky Tendon Fluid 👇
“Cranky Tendon Fluid” is our oversimplified way to convey a more complex topic to an athlete.
It refers to the excess fluid buildup inside a tendon when it becomes irritated or inflamed, a hallmark of acute tendinopathy. When tendons are overloaded, whether from high throwing volume, sudden workload spikes, or inadequate recovery—they respond by increasing their cross-sectional area.
This happens because they pull in hydrophilic molecules like proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans, which attract water and cause the tendon to swell.
This process causes pain and weakness the tendon
Using these low load isometrics when the tendons are irritated, can be a valuable way to combat this acutely
This applies to tendons all over the body, but I am most excited about it for the Flexor group
Try this out the day after your next outing and see how you it makes you feel!
